I've seen a number of reports of people who've had tilted solar panels ripped off the top of their RVs by sudden extremely strong gusts of wind.

If you do decide to tilt em, you'd best be really good at redneck engineering. They need to be hell for strong.

lafnbug, my first thought was that you were way overthinking this thing and "Just do what I say, dammit!" But asking questions until you understand is how you learn and that is the whole point of the forum.

Thanks for asking!

Bob, I value your input GREATLY, and the Blue Sky controllers are my next investigative project, based solely on your recommendation! As a matter of fact, I stumbled across your site while watching a YouTube video that made a passing reference to this site; he had mounted one UniSolar panel, which was the first time I had seen one. He, as well, discovered them on your site! So far, you have had 100% influence! After searching your site for info, I wound up reading it for DAYS, then launched an immediate campaign to source the now-discontinued PVL 68's. I got lucky and found the three I wanted almost immediately.
This is a system that I will be relying on greatly, and I take pride in understanding my endeavors. Admittedly, I should have conducted more research before posting my greenhorn questions, but I guess I wanted to test the waters to see if my expectations were reasonable, and hear from others, like yourself, that LIVE this stuff. I am having a blast reading all the responses, which have given me much food for thought. I am hoping that the controllers you recommend have user adjustability, so they can grow with my needs if necessary. I like adjustability and control, and I love putting custom projects together.
I'm sure that I will get a ton of questions about my system once others see it, and I would like to be able to present a SternWake-Bob-quality response to their inquiries! I like to "know my ****" (pardon the expression), and I truly appreciate the education. The quality of all the responses are way beyond my expectations.
