willy nice beepers i am also a whites fan. i have a gmt. how do you like the tdi. is it preforming to your expectations. everyone seems to be into the minelabs but that price, ouch. highdesertranger

Sorry 'bout the delay.. musta been one of those days when the coffee wasn't downed quick enuf. I'll take the TDI over the ML any day. It's just such a flexible machine.. can even coin hunt with it. There are areas where my cash/trash ratio is better with my TDI than with a VLF. ..Willy.

no problem willy. i am keeping the tdi on the wish list. just way down on the list. not really a lot of revues on the tdi. i like first hand talk the best. highdesertranger

I've had 2 ML PI's and 2 Garrett Infinium PI's, and the TDI is the keeper for me. It's basically an Eric Foster Goldscan 4 (or is that 5?), with some upgrades. ..Willy.

I don't see no pictures. Heh? Or is it my phone....just insulated my windows with the white Styrofoam with black cloth on the window side. Would love to see yours.

Looks like they forgot to transfer over the pics when they moved the posts over from the old website. If you pop by the old cheaprvliving forums and look up the posts you'll, most likely, see the stunning pics. ..Willy.

Maybe I can help with a few pics of Willy's I captured from the other site.

They look a LOT different during the day, with the sun shining through. I don't enjoy living in a dark ol' bat-cave, which opaque insulation on the windows would result in, so the Coroplast makes for a happy medium. ..Willy.

Over here, a 4'x8' sheet costs $20. Get a roll of that super thin 'n sticky carpet/lino tape and slap 'er on. ..Willy.

I like this idea better than blocking that light with foil products. No into the dark cave effect either.

I think I saw some at Home Depot.

Coroplast is available at Home Depot, and industrial plastics too, I think it's cheaper there. Here HD has white for less than translucent but the translucent is much nicer.

There was some discussion elsewhere about using it as a passive heater too, by stacking a couple layers with the inside corrugations running vertically so that warmed air would flow up, drawing in cooler air at the bottom to heat next.

Bubble wrap put on windows is translucent but cannot be seen through easily either. There was a website that showed it being used to insulate home windows. If one layer is not enough, add two and you may get the same effect for less cash.

Coroplast is like a plastic cardboard: often used for signage. It's not expensive. Recumbent bike riders use it to make aerodynamic shells, or velomobiles..

Can be easily found locally.

All the dated political signs being tossed: light steel wool will remove the printing, I hear...
AHA - I wonder if that could be used to make one of my dreams https://vanlivingforum.com/showthread.php?tid=30031 *reality*

There is something like Coroplast made of clear polycarbonate, specifically for greenhouses.

The translucent white version may be cheap and look nice for a while as a temporary shelter, but likely will not last long from UV damage.

Are you aware you're resurrecting ancient zombie threads, likely replying to ghosts? I don't mind, as long as you know. . .
