I am thinking about becoming a wanderer. I just want to see what is all about. It may be a year or so before I can actually make the move, if I get the courage to.

Welcome. It is good to look around at the options to see what might fit. That is part of the fun.

Spend all your weekends and vacation time doing it. You will get a taste of it.

Don't spend a bunch of money on your initial camping ventures.  Car Camp.  Tent Camp.  Learn first if you really want to be camping a lot.  Only after you've done it on the cheap and have decided that you want to continue should you begin investing in the lifestyle.

I spent a good deal of time camping in a tent so I had a pretty good idea that I enjoyed it before I purchased anything.

Good idea to get your feet wet first. As many have said, being a wanderer is a new way of living every day life. Wandering is not advertised as "normal" But to some it's where you find real freedom. If you find contentment in having "things" all around you, Sticks and bricks will drag you back. The light switch that works without thought will be gone.
Un limited water in your bathroom will require some thought. Grocery shopping in a different store every few weeks takes courage. Things that use electricity will have to be planned and limited. The reward for living the nomad life is huge though. You sacrifice comfort for freedom. Ah, freedom is priceless
