I wanted to share my "theme" song with you all here and many that are older, like myself, might well remember it.  I think in a very limited number of words, it captures the reason that long ago when I heard about full-time rving that I just could never let it go even though we moved around every 2 or 3 years, now stagnant, the song has an even stronger gripe:

I also like Pinocchio's "I've Got No Strings".  A few years back, A-Liner ran ads in Trailer Life and their line was "No boundaries" and I thought, "Imagine."

Johnny Cash - I've Been Everywhere

This has inspired me my whole life.

Great thread!

My theme song since my retirement in 1999 . . .

The Eagles: Take it Easy

Its me and my lifestyle now.

I've always been partial to this song when I'm rolling down the road happy and carefree.

Bachman Turner Overdrive, "Rolling On Down The Highway".

The one that always comes to my mind when I turn the key to leave is: On the Road Again"  Willie Nelson

I do live in Texas but that really doesn't have any bearing on it.

This was my Navy ship's "break away" song - the song each ship plays over loud speaker as it unhooks and departs the refueling/replenishment ship.  An old tradition.  "On The Road Again" really fit us, as my frigate often took the place of other ships on short missions if they couldn't make their commitment during our long deployment.  We got kudos for our reliability - though we also missed many scheduled port visits - too busy "On the Road"!  ;)

Roads are  too crowded for me.

I need some ocean element, and some solitude, with at least a little distant smidge of hope there is a woman out there for me

How about"Dropkick Me Jesus"from Bobby Bare for the sports fans?Or"It's a Good Day to Whoop Somebody's Ass"by the Little Old Man,when you've had a bad day?

Turn the Page by Bob Seeger.

Anytime this tune came on the radio while I was driving OTR I would crank the stereo to full volume.

"Turn The Page"

On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha
You can listen to the engine moanin' out its one note song
You can think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do
When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing there to do
And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through

Here I am, on a road again
There I am, on the stage
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, turn the page

Well, you walk into a restaurant all strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you as you're shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode

Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can
All the same old clichés, is it woman, is it man?
And you always seem outnumbered, so you don't dare make a stand

Here I am, on a road again
There I am, on the stage
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, turn the page

Out there in the spotlight you're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy, you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play

Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette, remembering what she said

Here I am, on a road again
There I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, turn the page

Here I am, on a road again
There I am, on the stage, yeah
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, there I go
