Hello there.
My wife and I recently decided to sell everything and live on the road. We're in the planning process and hope to shed our shackles by June. Looking at vehicles and trying to get as much knowledge as possible.

Great to meet you all.

Welcome, you found the right place.

Welcome. You'll be stunned at the amount of good info here. Real experience of others in ALL configurations of rigs should help. All you need is lots of time to explore here. And then many folks here can answer specific questions you have.

Welcome Tommy.  This IS a GREAT site.  I found it a little over a year ago.  There is a plethora of wonderful people and expertise here.

One of the hardest decisions to make is what type of vehicle, full blown class A all the way down to a smart car (although I don't remember 2 people in a smart car :p ).  The smaller the space, the better you must like each other.  If you plan to do most of your living out of the vehicle, the smaller you can go.  Chase the weather and pleasant cruising.

PS for those who didn't get it:
The greatest journey begins with ... an oil change and turning the key!!!!

Wise words indeed:

"Even the longest journey must begin where you stand"   Lau Tzu        (or sit at your computer)   ;)

But I think, so often, that first step is taken in our minds.

You are in the company of many here who are doing the same as yourself.  Some have already done so
and are the path finders setting the example for the rest of us.  Others are getting ready by outfitting
their rigs to embark and the rest are at some stage of researching or reading about this lifestyle choice
to see if they could step up to the challenges of such an adventure.

It isn't easy to leave a life and friends you were  comfortable being with behind to willingly pursue
a new and uncertain life.   The prevailing wisdom would suggest that it's just crazy to even think about
doing something like that.   But, today we have Cell Phones with unlimited plans where we can stay in touch,
photo hosting galleries where we can post photos for our friends back home to see what all we are doing,
and loads of free website host and blog host where we can keep a record for our loved ones so that they
can all be with us in spirit.  We can even post our video on Youtube so that they can feel like they are there with us.   With these tools and resources our friends back home may turn from thinking we are crazy to admiring our courage.

I'm living at my own home right now,  but have traveled in the past and would like to return to traveling
and living a minimalist off grid life.  A life where I don't constantly feel like I owe someone some kind of payments for utilities, taxes, insurances, home upkeep, or other community services.   A life scaled down
to where one (or two) people aren't so wasteful or sedentary and can enjoy a more active and healthy
manner of living.

Prepare well, and enjoy.  :)

Welcome, great folks here who walk the walk, you'll find answers to questions you didn't even know you had.
