Accrete, I think you hit the nail on the head in my book. I am certainly not building cheap, but what my budget will allow with my overall plans for vehicle/travel funds. Certainly with a couple, you both need to be comfortable and happy. After all in this thread is about minimal, not the "who lives in the smallest van with the least stuff"contest. I fall more into the utilitarian role with a case of the "minimalism fever". I too feel delighted when I donate truck loads of old stuff I will never use, I generally like having less, it make me feel free. I am, however in no place to judge how much is too much or too lavish to retain. Congrats , on the new RV! Hope to see you out there one day!
