Hi folks, I'm Rusty. I bought a conversion van last night! The person I bought it from highly recommended finding a community, so you're it!

I don't know jack (pun intended) about mechanics, or state laws regarding registration and whatnot, so I could really use the help. I promise not to gum up the forums and be a decent member of the community. My plan is to completely move in to the van in 2 months (gotta get rid of most of my crap and find someone to take over my lease) and leave my job in March 2019 (again, gotta find and train a replacement). I'm really tired of abusing mice in the "name of science", and I want to leave it all behind. I tried once before and ended up an Uber driver living with my parents. Not a good time. I want to do it correctly this time and have some semblance of freedom from "the machine" (ironically by living in a machine).

I've got a chunk of savings that I can probably stretch for a year or more, but besides that I'm going to have to pick up some extra skills to feed myself. Any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks for having me  :D

P.S. if anyone has successfully vandwelt in Baltimore, MD, I'd be eternally grateful for some tips on safe parking spots.

Rusty I always wondered how anyone could have one of those jobs. Congratulations for being able to leave. Bet you’ll sleep much better!
