Not good

The surgeon showed my I have a triangular rip in my ACL that has been binding and inflaming my knee for years.  6 weeks of PT before deciding if I can take surgery.  Right now It looks like surgery will not do much.

I do things one day, and have to recover the next day.

A bright spot was I figured I am allergic to the new Diabetes treatment. That is $11 a pill I do not need to spend.    :dodgy:

BUT,  $40 co pay for the PT, each time.  It is cheaper to die!

Well i just found these post's so i'm once again a day late and a dollar short.  I am so very sorry about your health issues and very glad you made it home.  My mother who is 80+ [do not tell her i said that] had a knee replacement over 20yrs ago and stiil crossed the usa too many times to count in a ford truck pulling a fifth wheel T.T.  She and her partner were camp hosts until because of his health they could no longer travel. The allergic reaction to the diabetic meds does not surprise me a bit.  My best friend with multiple heart issues and diabetes was so sick until the Dr.'s figured out he is allergic to synthetic insulin and must take Humalog 75/25.  I hope you didn't take to many of those pills before you found out?  My very best wishes go out to you for a rapid recovery of your health...Just remember to  take a big safety pin for the gown if you have to go in hospital..don't want'cha scaring all the nurses  don'cha know!  :p    Jewellann

Hey John, have they discussed knee replacement? I know several people who have had to go that route, and it has been very successful. They are almost routine anymore. I'm not sure the quality of care where you're at, but Colorado Springs has very top notch Orthopedic Docs due to the Olympic Training Center being here. Cost can still be an issue, with our wonderful version of universal health care. Whatever happened to "if you have insurance you like, you can keep it"?

Probably need to get diabetes under control first, before anything else can happen.  I'll see if I can find a recommendation for you. My brother in law's specialty is diabetes but he's in Texas. He might know someone though.

If you like it we are not charging enough.

I looked at the knee replacement posters on the wall in the waiting room.  It reminded me of the way I scab in new wood to repair termite damage.   :dodgy:  cut away the bad wood, and pound in treated lumber.   :exclamation:  I got chills in my (partially replaced) spine.   :(  This is a non option at this time.

I was sent down the hall to the brace specialist.  He recommended  fancy unit at about $1,600.   My daughter went online and found one on ebay.  She got it at auction for $19.50 plus shipping.  Same brand and size.  (Can you say markup?)   As long as I do not twist my knee I should be fine.  I will be seeing a new PCP next week for a complete workup.  Perhaps then I can get a handle on my blood sugar.  Fasting levels of 190 to 280 is not good.

Another reason to move to Colorado.  The University Medical was great 15 years ago when I had my first spineal replacement surgery.  But it is like dealing with DC to get anything done now.
