AS it turned out there was this one bolt, it's always the last one, that didn't want
to come out.

I ended up having to make a side trip to get a 10mm 6 point socket so I could
get some leverage to get it out... OH MY Word, it did not want to come out!!!

Man, and I thought this only happens to me... lol

Well, dr Nelson, today was no different!

I was putting together the cruise control harness or bundle, when the last pin to go into the quick connect, made me VERY aware of my screwup!
At that point I realized, the connector was in no way going to fit thru the hole I just drilled!
Holy crud, now I have to cut and splice the bundle..... Cheeses!

The kit comes with soldered pins that WILL fit thru the 3/8 hole easily!
But not if they were already inserted in the connectors. Which I did!!!

Totally my bad, the kit even said to not put them in they until after testing and ready for final assembly.

My vans kit was $199.95 w 9 bucks shipping out of the greater Detroit area...

Well, galladanb, if it makes you feel better. I bought a new carpet for the cab area. I put the old nasty stinky carpet over the new carpet and used it as a template to cut the new carpet.
Because the old one was stinky, I put it on the back-side of the new carpet...

So, guess what...

...exactly! Totally my bad, too.

There is most likely a tool to remove the pins from the connector.  Most pins have a couple tabs that lock it in place once inserted into the connector.

My van I think has factory cruise control, hope it works lol

A lot of packages the last few days, more today, tomorrow, and next week!

Finished up the cruise control install. It was very easy, except for my screw-ups...

It is soo cool to drive now! And not have to worry about holding my foot in place...

The wheel does block the view on occasions, but I know its there.

Sorry, I didn't take any shots of the parts going in, but here is the finished product.

Raining here too! Really puts a damper on the enthusiasm!! LOL

Reminds me of an E.L.O. song, "It's Raining, all over the World."

Are you going to do the solar yourself? It seems you are well qualified for that, good work on your progress.

Rob

Yes, I am planning on doing the install, My wife, Sandy will assist where she can.

Today's agenda includes yet another trip to Lowe's, and possible Grandson visit this afternoon!!!
So may not get much done as far as actual installs, just more prep...

I have several interested neighbors and relatives, but no volunteer's have stepped forward yet...

Ive thought about blasting late 60's and early to mid 70's and see if I can drum some outside interests...
Right Now... "Incense and Pepermints" by Strawberry Alarm Clock!!!!! I luv this era!!!!
And of course, Mr. Al Green anytime!!!!!!

Thx for following along!

Such fun!!!

Lots of planning lately...
Pulled the passenger bed box out to get it ready for the major electrical system components.

Yet another trip to scout parts and such... Another $150 bucks, oh my!

Ok, here is the general wiring plan in summary...
4awg from alternator/isolator to 60 amp fuse to cutoff switch to house battery positive buss.
2/0awg from Tripp-lite charger to 125 amp fuse to cutoff to house battery positive buss.
2/0awg from house battery positive buss to positive terminal on battery.
4awg from house battery positive buss to 60 amp? fuse to cutoff to dc input on power distribution panel.
4awg from solar controller to blade type 20amp fuse to house battery positive buss.
inline fuse between panel positive  and controller.

Repeat using same wire sizes for grounds or return side, but with out fuses.
And put the meter shunt after the ground buss but before ground to frame.

And for clarity...
(1) 20ft 10AWG Adapter Kit. Use these for the panels to controller?
(1) 2ft 8AWG Fuse Cable. Has ring terminal on each end, Use between big inline 20 amp fuse and positive side of battery?
(1) 8ft 8AWG Tray Cable. Has ring terminal on one end, stripped on other end. Use between controller and fuse going to battery?
(1) 10 amp In-Line Fuse. Use between the panel positive and controller input?
(1) 20 amp ANL Fuse. Use between Controller and positive side of battery?

Just don't wanna screw anything up...

SO Confusing, but SUCH FUN!!!!

Boxes continue to roll in...
Outside, I'm in wiring hell, getting er dun! Almost got all the circuits in and terminating all the connections....

Parts, electrical components, and part of the bedding foam!!!

Such Fun!!!

Six days later and I'm still in WIRING HELL...

Well, while its frustrating and stressful, I really am having a blast trying to get it all figured out...

I'm almost ready to power it all up, but that still may be a couple of days away.

I need to figure out the grounding and power lines to the distribution panel.
My charger / inverter has these really huge cables that are not very yielding and tuff.
And I don't want two many of those on one battery post, just looks messy and goofy.

Anyway here are some images from the last few days...

Since we can only post five images per post, here are some more images from my WIRING HELL...

Here are some proposed layouts that I'm considering, nothing is bolted down yet, so not finished...

Looking down into the cabinet at the charger / inverter, cutoff switch at the top,
the 150 Amp fuse below, and the forward edge of the front battery.
There is to be a dividing wall between the batteries and the inverter there...
IMG_0690.JPG

Front battery at the top, charger inverter to the left, and the fuse to the right,
Ground cable just laying on top, which may get moved below, pos legs over it...
IMG_0691.JPG

Top of batteries, showing the interconnect leg, and pos cable to the right.
I'm working on a tie down system, nothing is finished yet...

The time got away from me, so I was unable to add captions for the images in one of the above posts.

It shows the four way switch panel cluster mess, one of it almost ready to go in, and also in a testing position.

I plan on putting most of the switches in that goofy column just behind the side cargo doors.
Battery meter, dimmer, four way switches, and a 110V outlet in the holes.
The devices will be mounted into custom little plates or panels...

Should look OK when done. We'll see right?

Great progress and nice work, Good on you.

Rob

Nice progress!
Boy, just seeing all those cables gives me the creep... I guess I'll just take a deeeeeeep breathe when I am there.

good going, eventually wiring hell will be just a bad memory
