I had to stop looking at this one...the number of ways to configure and re-configure with the built in storage is a bit overwhelming.

Its a rather low looking roof, but the box also rides low so hard to tell. Also I wonder how you'd approach a solar mount on that type of roof...

Fiber truck?

They never get shut off, ever.

Is there something about the configuration that is a tip off that this was a truck used for fiberoptics? And why do you say that they never get shut off, as opposed to another trade?

Too bad engines don't have run-time meters :/

yep, Lee is right. I would suggest that you go look at this body style van. the floor is only 4 feet wide. it looks big but once inside it's cramped. I do like the door to the driver compartment. but then where would your bed go. highdesertranger

I was thinking that you could cut out a lot of the internal metal for just that reason, and still have some very convenient storage for batteries, tanks, vent options, etc. Hard to know how much the inside metal is important to structural design...

I really like that body. It looks brand new so engine hours shouldn't be a problem. But a used one could be a different story. Lot's of plumbing companies use that type of body also. The little doors at the rear are where they feed out fiber cable, but in a plumbing application they slide 10' lengths of pipe inside. I would take out all of the shelves above the outside boxes and I think I could get enough room. Maybe a couple small windows to open things up. I like the 2 compartments that are accessible from inside and outside - I'd use at least one for a kitchen set up somehow.

I just clicked on the add, and it's not brand new, so I don't know how they kept the inside of the boxes so clean - doesn't look like a repaint. I see lot's of possibilities though. If it wasn't for the cost, this type of body on a medium duty truck would work really well for me and my life style.

Like HDR said that door is where the fiber enclosure is pulled into the truck to splice.

They never get shut off because  you need to be temp controlled to work on fiber.  Not to mention the truck is your office, shutting a truck off in some neighborhoods is a poor idea, and you might not be paying for gas.  All kinds of reasons.

I'm not saying don't do it, but be careful.
