Some of the pay by month phones run off the Verizon towers which is good.

out west here verizon has the best coverage.  however many boondocking locations i go to have no coverage from anybody.  sure wish satellite connections were allot cheaper.  highdesertranger

hey highdeserter, i had a satellite phone 406 mz, they are great tool to have . had one on my sailboat, wouldn't leave the harbor without.wish i still had it for boondocking and basic traveling, but i sold it along with the boat, i payed around $1500.00, for the phone and i think it was about $5.00 a minute. i know thats very expensive, but when your life is on the line, great think to have ,to reach out and call for help!! any where in the world. fellow traveler gary
