I plan to convert Renault Master MWB (L2H2) van in the future.
As you can see in the attachment, the G - Cargo bay width (Max.) is 1,765mm (69.49 inch).
I am 67.32 inch (5.6 ft) tall.

I can fit sideways, if I don't think about the thickness of the insulation.
Do you think it will be possible for me to sleep sideways even when i put some insulation?
I am also worried that if i put my bed/frame at relatively high level the cargo bay width will decrease according to shape of the van.

Can anyone give me some advice?

Sleeping sideways will solve tons of space problems for me.

Thanks.

Bob Wells says he sleeps at an angle on his bed allowing him to place the bed from side to side rather than along the side. I do something totally different. Several years ago I fell several times and injured both shoulders so I slept on a recliner. I got so used to it that I got a yard sale recliner for the van. Its not only comfortable but saves space. I dislike a vehicle where you have to set up and take down a bed every time you use it.

By the way - do the sell the Renault in the USA? I don't remember seeing any. I usually notice vans whenever I see them.

I have a full size bed across the back in my roadtrek and sleep at an angle. Lots of storage underneath. I have never really understood why you would have to sleep as straight as the bed unless it is really narrow.

I am only one inch more than you, and have found that I need around 72" (with pillow) for myself. Maybe I point my toes down too much. Everyone is different. Try sleeping on a bed and giving yourself different amounts of space.

I saw a van that had what looked like a hatch cover on the side but it was actually a sliding drawer type design with a waterproof concertina shaped fabric covering which extended the legroom inside, allowing the owner to sleep sideways in his small vehicle.

It was really neat and allowed for a far better use of the limited internal space.
