Don’t buy anything until you get to Tx2sturgis’s place. He knows everything and has a nice stopover.

I'm talking to him now, I also posted this idea elsewhere but I value your opinions. Since there are several hours between sundown and bed time, what if I made 2 separate battery packs and ran one during those hours, then switch to the second at bed time. That may allow me to use my little batteries? What do u think?

Kristal I hope your last post wasn’t directed at asking me. May as well ask a Zucchini. I do know who to go to ask and since you can head by Tx’s place you can’t go wrong. Cook something for the poor man [emoji2]

I have two kitchens here now...one indoor and one outdoor....I can put both of you to work!

Oooops I can see Thors hammer getting ready to slam down on us off-topic scoflaws as we speak!

Yes an MPPT that is rated for at least 60v + 10%. Higher is better. Highdesertranger

Ok, just an update for all those who helped me.
I did hook up my own pwm controller to my fridge, knowing I'm risking batteries because I connected 5 in parallel instead of only 4 but it's what I have. It seems to run perfect all day with sun and will freeze, With a full charge at sunset, then I set it to eco and stays fairly cool over night. But it shuts down around midnight on eco. Working only as an ice chest overnight. Not ideal but it's what I got. I will save up now for bigger batteries and a mppt controller. Thanks again, so much to everyone.

That's odd that it shuts down at midnight. Is it suppose to do that? Or is it doing that because that battery voltage drops to low?

I'm still learning to read the dang thing.. my getting older brain keeps reading the manuals over and over and still confused over it all. I'm sure I'll get better, only been 2 days running it. I'm also trying different temps and such to see if I can stretch it out longer.

So you have five 16Ah batteries and the refrigerator shuts off at midnight? Something is not right.

Batteries not fully charged? Maybe
What the refrigerator draw?

Oh what I would give to be 20 again! Fearless, memory, healthy, pretty, nothing hurt, never tired and I could make sense of things. Even my daughter who almost has her doctorate degree and my autistic sevant math wiz grandson can't figure it all out, although he has fully enjoyed going over every single figure given here on my electrical, lol. Well, at least I don't have to go to work anymore, altho I loved my job

Ahhh those are the type of questions that are hard to answer. U mean the manufacturers figures for what it's supposed to draw? Or what. My controller says? Because I'm not sure of that yet. I just know the power light on the fridge starts flashing yellow/red about half an hour before it shut down but I wasn't watching it constantly. Need to figure it all out still but haven't been able to give it 100%.

Ok lets round it off to 4ah. but it should only be running about 1/3 of the time so about 1.25ah times 10hours = 12.5ah. you have plenty of battery for that. Something not right. even if it was running constantly that would be 40ah approximately 50% of your battery capacity, which should be no problem.

Can you post a picture of how the batteries are hooked up?
