Found this on a search for diy showering and wow! I could use this in Sweetie and thought some of you might like the idea!

If you really want to be frugal with water, Get a 1/2 to 3 gal garden sprayer, Quart bottle and ketchup squirt bottle, Bucket and sponge. Heat the water in a kettle on the stove or let it sit in the sun. Takes about 1/2 to 3/4 gal to bath unless you have really long hair.

James AKA Lynx

Hi James, Good Idea. I not really trying to be frugal with water at this point as I am stationary in Sweetie with free water. I am more thinking about having a hot shower either outdoors or indoors. Sweetie has no running water but I do have a hose hooked up that I use and this would be perfect.

Fixed the link

James,
Bravo ! Awesome someone else gets it as well.
I have been doing it that way for a couple of years now. No need for huge amounts of water or heating it up !

Oh I get it alright. When I'm backpacking or camping I barely use any water at all. But where I am located on I am right next to a spring so I don't need to worry about being so frugal at the moment.

Hey Mods., this topic should be in " Going to the bathroom/showering " section.

Nice vid Clean!

Thank you.

I missed this one before! I think this is great...I'm going to try it here in my cabin!

There are a lot less expensive and less complicated ways of getting a shower outdoors. From minimalist to a lot better systems than this for half the price. I have a Zodi, a sun shower and just a plain old fashion wash basin that doubles as my sink. A simple tarp or a portable shower/potty house for $80 plus the Zodi for another $120 and you save over $100 just on the Coleman water heater alone. The Coleman shower head is another $20 alone.

Although most times I am in developed campgrounds so a shower and hot water is just up the path.

The Zodi zip, along with a Cabelas deluxe shower house. The whole system cost about $200. The shower house is the best I have found for the money. Comes with a 5 gallon solar shower, a shelve system, a place to keep your towels and clothes dry during shower and is roomy. The shower has a drainable floor which is a plus IMO.

Most of the other water heater kits are to big for just the sake of heating water. They take up more room then my 36 qt 12 volt cooler. You could make your own water heater simple for around $80. All you need is a battery pump, copper tubing, some hose/tubing, a shower head from a solar shower and a one burner stove. The pump would pump the water to the copper tubing that is being heated by the one burner. Then pumped to the head. The pump doesn't pump that fast so it give the burner enough time to raise the water temperature enough for a hot shower, dishwashing or laundry.

Always make your gear pull double duty.

I, at one time, was researching food trucks and hot dog carts. Being the DIY kinda person I am, I dug into more than just what things need to do but how the people that do it every day do things. There is a "heat on demand" water heater for these businesses that is a lot cheaper,I think just over $100, than the house models. Also. the copper coil over a burner is another way the hot dog cart builders have of providing hot water, and a lot cheaper if you keep a small stove handy anyway.

I love this set up. I just finished mine. I use a solar shower bag and it is just very Convienent for me since I am stationary in Sweetie. I left the top and bottom t-connectors unglued so I can store it easily. I can't imagine an easier set up for me.
