Forgive me if the answer is obvious but I am having trouble googling it.

I bought a camper van and am now planning to empty the tanks. There was no manual provided with it and looking over the van I see a "Sewer Hose" on one side and a "Sewer Outlet" on the other.

Frankly I am stumped. I assumed I would find a hose to empty the tanks and that would be it. I do have two holding tanks according to my monitor so is one for one and the other for the other?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Denis

'Sewer hose' is probably where the flexi-hose is supposed to be stored and -sewer outlet' is the drain valve to which it is attached to pump out poo 'n stuff.

You should have a grey water tank (sink, shower collection). Also black water tank (poo only usually) . On the drain end of it there should be "Y" connector to attach the drain hose.

Attach the hose. Open the black water drain valve. Drain the black water tank. Close the black water valve and then open the grey water valve. The grey water will hopefully flush all of the stinky out of the drain hose. Once everything is drained close all valves, disconnect hose from the drain connection and flush/clean out the hose while attached to the sewer receptacle at the dump site. Use a hose that you don't use for your pottable water. Often the dump site will have short hose to use for cleaning and flushing after the dump. Then wash your hands thoroughly.

Hope this helps.

Examine the hose carfully for cracks before using it, older/cheaper ones tend to break. Replacements available at wal-mart, camping world, etc. Be sure the connections are tight before opeing the valves. There are web sites to help you find dump stations, usually free to $10 or so.
