A photo of a 1970 Chinook got me thinking about seat belts.

There are no seat belts.

I looked around and saw that many older RV's had no seat belts or only on the front seats.  Current models come with belts at the dinette and couch.  Also took a look at seat belt legislation, a number of states only require passengers in the front seat to wear belts (depending on age).

Does anyone travel with a passenger asleep in the bed?
Has anyone added seat belts when they were not original equipment.

Don't know how legal this was, but we took a family outing in a Class A motorhome and had two on the couch without seatbelts. The couch had seatbelts, but the previous owner pushed them under the seat as it was not comfortable sitting on them. We also had one laying down on the rear bed, again not sure how legal that was, but I'm guessing we were not the only ones on the road riding this way.

If it's illegal, I promise to never do it again!
