So I have decided to redo my "bathroom". I had initially wanted a big box with a hinged top and a "door".

I ended up with...IMG_20200719_171711.jpg

Its a fine space... it still needs to be finished a bit. But I really need that massive amount of counter space.

I currently have a big  soil mixing pan thing to take showers in. I also will have a shower curtain of course.

I would like to remove that huge pan and just have a waterproof bottom and sides up to maybe 4 inches.

I see that guy with flex seal on tv with his boat... can I not spray layers of this stuff to form a "shower pan"?

The current pan is a bit awkward and I would like to gain a few more inches of space. to put my composting material water jugs..

Any ideas on how to do an ez pz shower pan? I don't mind spraying several layers...LOL

I am also thinking of mounting my heater to the outside door of the gents. I think reworking it is going to be worth it.

My carpenter friend says he will redo it.. but he doesn't sound too enthusiastic.. I may be jimmy rigging something...ugg.. who knows what it will look like. I  am planing to just chop the front..LOL and try my best if i am left to my own devices.

tiles?  in a vehicle?  you better think about that.  highdesertranger
Ya I did think about that... all night long..:)

I think a rubber mat over the redgard...for the floor. and edges should be fine.

Do I even need anything over the redgard?

I think I have seen some thin vinyl sheets.. maybe that could work as well?

The bathroom space is about 30 wide and 42 long...

It's a little to the side, or not, but in regards floors and carpets, another thing to think about is one tends to track in a huge amount of dust from the outside, so the floor coverings need to deal with that too.

RedGard is not suitable as a finished surface........

It dries tight to the substrate with a "tooth" that accepts adhesives....(along with hair and soap scum)

Hmmm... so there goes that...

You can fit  a 30" shower tray, and make a box seat the rest of the space.
Or this: https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Showers-and-Tubs/Lippert-Components/LC210377.html
Or you could just fiberglass what you have already, and call it perfect.
Are you any good with fiberglass?

This is a big space you can even fit a tub there.

Welp.. I did buy a gallon of the  redgard.

I also think the red, tho it is my favorite color,  to be a bit much. It will look like I am a mobile goat butcher.

That pan and tub are perfect size for my space... but a bit more costly than I wanted to spend..LOL.  I think my buddy does know how to do glass work.. I am not sure how involved that is or costly.

I am nearly to the point of just putting rubber mats or trimming some and sticking plastic/vinyl/rubber on the floor and 3 inches on each side.

It wont be used heavily. I do plan to have a hinged counter top over it sooo.. it can be kinda ugly inside.. (kinda). I will put a box seat of some sort for the potty..and leave the rest of space for storage..

Is glass work expensive and difficult and or time consuming?

Thanks EVERYONE for helping solve this last big issue. I really appreciate you taking the time to help out!

So here is a video of some guy using a flex seal product to make a shower pan of sorts. Looks pretty darn good to me.

C/should I use the redgard before then pour that flex seal stuff over it??

I wonder if the flex seal by itself would be fine?

Who knew making a water tight box would be such a chore..LOL

Maybe I will just staple some visqueen/tarp down..

Seal all the edges and apply bed liner spray?

Yeah, I was thinking like ...   :s   'blood bath'  L:DL   L:DL  L:DL   L:DL

No, fiberglass is simple and easy, a bit smelly till it cures, but VERY effective for jobs like that. It is very strong and durable material, they make boats out of it, remember?

No elaborate tools either, just a small roller and gloves.
You make your shower tray (you have it already) glass it and spray paint it with Rustoleum Topcoat.
$10 fiberglass cloth, and $40 for the epoxy and activator, $4 Topcoat.
You will have leftovers for any patching jobs.

(I used to patch the rust holes on my beater cars back in the day with that stuff too)
now those are prices I can put a smile to. Seems fairly simple.. great suggestion...  would probably look much better than  my stapled tarp!

Ya.. your completely right.
In the picture I attached it can be barely seen but I do have a mixing tub already. As I was going to redo the box I figured there would be a simple solution like applying the redgard and have something easy peasy and that provided a little more room. I am definitely making an issue that doesn't even need to be and it is costing me more than I want to spend.

A lid and a door on my box  and my mixing pan is plenty fine.  I need to heed the KISS messages that abound.

Where's the Thank you button, when you need it?
Or the smashing head against a wall emoji.

Here I am turning gold into straw...

A day spent fussing my mind over the unnecessary.  I know what caused this was looking at glossy vans on another site. Since I was going to redo my loo I went looking for ideas.. only to lose my mind.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your suggestions. I promise to NOT look at glossy vans anymore..until I  am finished with mine and have xtra cash to throw away on a wild hair.

any time Sofi. I use those a lot for prospecting. I have 3 in camp now. highdesertranger

why not just use a concrete mixing tub,
For the record, this can work really well.  I used to put two tote boxes in mine, so it "earned" the room in the van and could be easily used inside or out.  My current layout will not accommodate it, but I wish it did! I miss it.
