So here is my tentative schedule for RTR 2017. Take a look at it and let me know if you see any mistakes or something that needs to be changed.

If you wanted to teach a class and I forgot, remind me, or if you want to add one let me know. I've reduced it from 14 days to 10, so the schedule is fairly tight, I can't add much more.

High Desert Ranger, I don't know if you wanted to do it again, but I scheduled you for a gold prospecting class, let me know if that is okay and if it is not, I understand and we'll delete it.

I am SO looking forward to this!!
Looks like everyone will be having a good time here.
I am ready!, now, just to make myself settle down and pack up, and head out.
I have never been to an RTR, but Bob sure makes it look like a lot of fun is to be had there, and I am going to be there, come hail or high water. lol
Thanks Bob!!!!!

The major schedule change I see from previous years is the lack of group meals. (soup/chili) Maybe it's just getting too big to make them practical.

I don't see the gold prospecting class... am I just missing it or did you mean to schedule it but waited until HDR responded?
Thanks,

About the Saturday center camp lunches -

A couple of years ago Peter, Chef Extraordinaire and Darn Good Guitar Picker, stepped up to become Coordinator of the Soup and Chili Fests, much to everyone's delight.

Alas, Peter will not be at RTR this year, and unless [insert some wonderful person's name here and it can't be Bob, he has more than enough to do!] has a willingness to coordinate these efforts, the wonderful aromas and delicious goodness of steaming cauldrons of mild to hot to vegan chilies and fresh-baked cornbread and soups galore and mad munchies may regretfully become but distant memories.

Hopefully a miracle will occur and Saturday group meal efforts will magically materialize.  Beyond food and tables and pots and stoves and fuel, it will take the committed effort of quite a few people for prep and cooking and and serving and clean up, about 4 to 5 hours from start to finish, or shifts therein.

I hereby volunteer for clean up.  Where do I sign up?     :D

How important is the orientation for newbies? I discovered last night that I will be stuck here untill the 12th or 13tld h so can't be at Q for opening day
Honestly hacked me off a bit, a job that important should have more trained people available to do it

ArtW, the orientation is - how to find things in town, what you can expect at the RTR, some common courtesies that we should all be aware of and following anyways (drive slow for dust control, park out of the way if you have a noisy generator and don't fire it up at 7 AM, that type of thing).

When you arrive, someone can give you a mini replay!

Don't fuss and don't drive too long to get there quick. It's okay!

Is the Big Tent going to be one day only....on the 21st? I noticed it said first day but no mention of additional day.

No, it's the day in the schedule that Bob set aside for any of those interested in finding jobs to head to the big tent as several of the largest seasonal employers set up booths there. And like anything else, the early bird gets the best worms.

The RV show goes for 2 weeks IIRC, the first day of the show being the 21st.

We have a schedule, it's getting more real!

I'd love to have meals again this year, but you'll be cooking for a couple hundred people and that requires someone with genuine experience in cooking for crowds.

I could do it but it wouldn't taste nearly a good as Peters, (he really was a very talented Chef) but it would be edible. But I simply can NOT cope with that extra stress.

Anyone thinks they can, step forward, but you need to convince me you have the experience to do it.

I'd love to join the effort. We've cooked for 300 on less than a days notice but I'm no chef nor did it daily.

Even a pot luck needs co-ordination. It sounds like Peter looked at what was available and decided what to cook with it.

At past RTR's, how many nights were there group dinners?
