It's just a personal preference, but I would buy a 3/4 ton, 2500. I think it better to under-load a truck, than risk overloading it in the future. I would give serious thought to a Dodge Cummins diesel, but that is a huge jump in money. Bob
Oh I'm right there with ya Bob, but there is a huge jump in price like you said and there is no way that is possible for me. Thanks for the input and concern though
It's Final, got a 98 Ram with a 360 5.9L V8. Leather interior, custom wood grain dash, a couple small dings and small surface rust spots. Got it for a damn good price.
Should have pics up tomorrow of all my stuff packed in my camper

Good looking truck, those Dodges are hard to beat. My class A has a 440 in it and has plenty of power-just no gas milage

Love the truck! I also love that you're traveling with your Gram! My cousin was a roadie for some pretty big bands and took his 83 year old mother on tour across the United States. He drove an 18 wheeler with the equipment and stage. Her eyes lit up until the day she died when you mentioned that trip. So did his

Nice tt Mouldy. I have a cousin that is going to go over my 61 Shasta undercarriage and I hope he can weld a "back porch" like what you have on it for storage. Harbor freight carries them rather reasonably. We may be replacing the tongue and jack etc in the front too. Please keep the updates coming. It has been to nasty here in Ohio to do much of anything unless you have a garage or barn.
Keep posting progress pics. Enjoyed your photography. Selling much or no time for marketing?
D-Fly - Yes, my buddy has a heated shop and we just took scrap metal we found around my place and welded it up. Nice to have all the tools at your disposal for things!!! I haven't sold jack, of course I can't complain much considering I haven't marketed much at all. I'm gonna start a thread about photography/writing here and discuss it there and keep this to my conversion.

Cyndi - Its gonna be interesting traveling with my G-ma. I used to spend all my time with her when i was young and during my college years and slightly before that I hardly saw her a couple times a year... It's funny how important people in our lives slip away when we do/try new things. I'm not so stoked about not being able to listen to all my music due to language but a minor set back for what should turn out to be a great experience.

Granny along is a very cool thing to do....I salute you Mouldster.
bri

Well today is the day!!!! I'm waiting for my Superchip programmer to come via UPS for the truck and then i'm off with granny! I'll post pics up here in a little bit. Hoping to make Cameron, MO tonight
Yup, gotta get a job before I can afford a mutt. I want one, just gotta get other things first....YEAH UPS MAN IS HERE..... BYEEEEE
Well, I'm stuck here by Kansas City, MO. I have a bad gasket on the air intake. Looking at the tune of a minimum of 750 bucks they said. SWEEEEET!!!! I had to put 4 quarts of oil to get about 300 miles here to kansas city. I would be sleeping in my trailer at the dealer but grandma wanted to stay in a fancy hotel...
Here is a link to my new blog for anyone that cares.
Hi Mouldy,
I love the fact that you're bringing Grandma on your trip! You're giving her an adventure that she'll cherish. ..You mentioned that you're in Kansas City... I'm in the Wichita, KS area. If you're headed in this direction, and you and Gram need a rest stop, give me a holler. You and your Gram sound like fun people to visit with....Sorry about your car problems.

Katie

I would have loved to KiK, but I'm hoping to make it somewhere closer to the Texas/NM border. Thanks for the hospitality though. Trying to make it farther than 50 miles today
Truck is done at the shop, just need to go pick it up. Don't know how much it'll cost yet but at least I'll have a good vehicle now, I hope!

Well, I have made it to sunny California. I'm living out of my trailer in the backyard of my brother's place for now. I also got a call on the way out here and GOT A JOB!!! I'd like to give a big thanks to Bob for this one considering its the link you posted on here for a campground host. My site doesn't have electricity, but it does have sewer and supposedly a well is going to go in this spring; knowing the gov't though, i'm not holding my breath. The site is somewhere up by Truckee, Ca. I need to call my manager again to write down the details because I was trying to drive in a 30 mph crosswind and talk to him at the same time. The job doesn't start til early May so I have some time to kill til then. I'm guessing i'll head to Bishop in about three weeks, then head up to the job after that.
Congrats on both ariving and the JOB. You are giving the rest of us insperation to geter done. Ed

Congratulations! I bet you're really missing the snow and cold weather, now, huh?
