I'm a bit leery of Amazon. I bought my first Cuisinart Pressure Cooker on Amazon, only lasted one year. 2nd was purchased at BB&B (great return policy).

Returns on stuff from Amazon Prime will be shipped back at Amazon's expense;  they email a UPS call tag.  I haven't made many returns in 10 years but the ones I did return were easy peasey.

For those who are interested in learning how to use a pressure cooker, one easy way is to have someone actually go through the whole process with you, explaining step by step. It's a good way to get your feet wet.

"Chickens are one of the major things I will miss about full timing."

Me, too. I have two chickens and three ducks. A guy I know might take the ducks, but the chickens are two old girls, just pets, beyond laying.

Allrecipes has a decent section on pressure cookers. Pot roast is one of my favorite slow-cooker meals, I would like to learn how to time to cook in a pressure cooker.

I haven't ordered mine yet as I am lacking a trailer to put it in.

Last night Abuelaloca and I tried out my new pressure cooker

Great little cooker... I still was skeered of the steam and made a big ol' RV mess trying to release it, but I want one of these! The 2 qt is a great size for cooking for one, although she managed to make enough to feed an army in it!! LOL

I use a stovetop pressure cooker, it is incredible. Cooks rice in 8 minutes, whole pot roast in an hour! It is basically the best invention for the man in a hurry and lazy! Meats come out juicier than in a slow cooker! Saves a ton of propane too!
I have this model
It works PERFECTLY! It makes a great stew pot as well, the bottom is super thick to prevent hot spots.

I bought my first PC from Walmart 2nd one too the 2nd one is large enough to fit a turkey in it. . I then started to notice them at yard sales and thrift stores. I bought them since they wanted token prices $10 and $5. I have plenty now. IF you find one at a yard sale get it even if the gasket is messed up you can find replacements ? Oil the rubber gasket that should help with any seal issues.

If you cook a turkey in it you follow instructions then you put it in the oven for 30 min after and it is given that crisp skin. If you like peeled boiled eggs then you can cook them in the PC and once you do it that way you will never return to the old way. They nearly jump out the shell no sticking. Save time and fuel.

Hey ltripper,
I'm looking for a new stovetop pressure cooker and the one you posted looks interesting. What is the band name and where did you purchase it?
Thanks,
Ted

About the brand...... get a known brand of cooker. If the company of a little-known brand can't make it in the market, they stop producing, and when they stop producing the cooker, they usually also stop producing the gaskets. My Mom nearly cried when they stopped making gaskets for hers. She wanted to give it a nice buriel with a cross and flowers.
