I no longer have them, but back when I first started out I had a colony of Central American Death-Head Cockroaches. Seriously--no joke. I used to make my living doing live reptile shows for school classes, so I always had a dozen or so snakes, lizard, turtles, frogs and invertebrates--including my cockroach colony.
When I started vandwelling, I adopted them all out to good home, but kept the buggies--I figured they were tough and adaptable enough to deal with it. Alas, I soon found that keeping them warm in winter was the easy part--the hard thing was keeping them cool in summer. (Every experienced dweller knows that staying cool in a vehicle is a LOT more difficult than staying warm.) So I ended up giving them all away to a local pet store.
I do miss the little dudes.
A photo I took a long while ago:
Aww, how can anyone NOT love an adorable little face like that...?
