For those who use water tanks like the aquatainer for the fresh and gray water, how exactly do you get the water from the container?&nbsp;&nbsp; Do you drill a hole in the cap and feed a tube/hose thru or something?&nbsp; I was planning on getting one of the hand pump faucets.&nbsp;&nbsp; Links to what you used or something similar would be awesome.<br><br><br><br>

I have been pouring into another container. Some do what you are saying. Just get a 2 gallon jug and fill when needed. Doubtful if you will use more than 2 gal a day. Watch the spout it will break off.<br><br>James AKA Lynx

I just bought the 7 gallon aquatainer at walmart. It comes with a built in spigot that screws into the top of the cap

I have one of those as well. Weight is 7 X 8 pounds per gal + weight of container = 60 pounds about?<br><br>They do not drop to well. But there is enough water for 1 week per person if you do not bath with it. <br><br>I need 4 more.<br><br>They do fit well under the bed.<br><br>James AKA Lynx

At 70 F, water weighs 8.35 pounds per gallon. After 25 years as waterman, I had to look it up. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">

I have a reliance 7 gallon water container.<br><br>I cut off the original spout and tapered it so a 3/4 inch PVC pipe would slide over it, making a stem to the bottom of the tank Friction fit, no glue. &nbsp;Exiting the top of the screw cap is a barbed fitting to my water line.<br><br>I also have a check valve at the very bottom of the stem. &nbsp;I had found that when i had hand pumps, even with the built in check valve on the pump, it would drain down, and numerous pumps would be required to lift the water before any would exit the pump. &nbsp;The check valve stopped this annoying behavior. &nbsp;I do not know if it is necessary with the electric pump, but I see no need to experiment.<br><br>I now have a Jabsco on demand 12v pump, and utilize it not according to the directions, which say to attach it directly to the bottom of the tank. &nbsp;I basically put it on the floor at the same level as the bottom of the tank. &nbsp;When refilling the tank at a filtered water vending machine and rehooking the lines, I need to pressurize the tank to prime the pump, though putting my lips over the faucet when it is on and sucking works too.<br><br>I have my air compressor right next to my tank and use that and a tapered fitting to pressurize the tank slightly to attempt to retain some dignity when priming the pump.<br><br>My sink just drains to the ground below. &nbsp;No grey water tank, and I rarely let anything go down the drain, or if I do, I put a catch basin underneath it, unless it is just clean water with no consequence to visible wetness. &nbsp;My tank is for filtered drinking water, not washing dishes. &nbsp;For that I use my sun shower and a catch tray.
