What have ya folks done to plus the many holes from the old sub-floor self tapping screws. Some of the hole have a little rust around them.

Paint paint paint to stop the rust. Plug holes with a little silly putty. put the screws back in.

i have used many different methods welding, bondo, silicone, put the old screws back. welding while being the most permanent has a few draw backs like it burns all the protecting coating off in the immediate area and you can't put a screw back in or drill there. like zil said paint, paint, paint. i found silicone to be the quickest and last for years just clean both sides good make sure some goes though the hole then make like a button on top. highdesertranger

And, of course, use paint with rust inhibiters, like (duh) Rust-Oleum.

I covered my floor with 1/2" plywood and forgot about the holes (I did try to cover them in silicone first, but I'm sure I missed some).

No idea if it's the right thing or not, but it's what I did

With Love,
Tara

I had huge holes in the floor of my van where the seats were bolted in. Like, big enough my pinky fit in them. I bought replacement bolts (since I gave away the originals with the seats) and smeared them with epoxy before screwing them in.

With holes that size, you could have epoxied pennies over them. Cheaper than bolts.

Sounds like Tara is on the right track. I would fill the holes first with silicone first just to keep the little crawly critters from nesting inside the holes. They love that kind of stuff.
-Bruce

Oooooh, PENNIES. That's a good idea. Wish I'd thought of that!

When you hat one of the pennies when moving something it will come off.

James AKA Lynx

I had some rusty holes in my floor. I decided to coat them with rustoleum rust converter spray paint. Then i cut some sheet metal (it was 7 bucks for a 18x18 piece i think) and screwer over them with self tapping screws. I then put reflextix down then ply for flooring. I plant to buy a can of rhinoliner and cover the wood with that. As soon as it stops raining i am going to go underneath the van and coat the patches with paint too. And any other trouble spots i see.

I had plan to cut all the rust away instead of just spraying but all i have to work with are hand snips and that ain't happening. I wish i had a good compressor so i could use my whiz wheel
