Please give me your thoughts on why I should live and travel in a small Class C or Class B instead of a full size extend

Hi sl,
My time in Santa Fe was in the mid-90's. It was very different then from before in the 70s and 80s, when there were artists living there, and I assume it is very different now! Interesting place, NM. Loved Los Alamos and had friends there as well.

Magenta,
It's not my intention to get into an argument with you. If you will re-read my 2 posts, you will see that they were made in response to your comments about George and Glenn, among other things from other posters. I do speak specifically about George and Glenn in my comments. I have absolutely nothing against either of them. However, they are in a more advantaged economic place than some other van dwellers, and that is what I was trying to point out. If you journey to creative work, like Glenn does (lucky duck!) then having to maintain a low profile so he's not fired is not an issue. If you drive a spiffy class C, then you will probably be of less concern to the local constabulary than someone in an old truck with old cabover or a mysterious van, depending upon the factors I described in my last post. It's profiling, but it's reality. Thus my conclusion that stealth is not a noun, it is a adjective that describes levels of concern which are different for everyone. I.E. Just how invisible do you wish or need to be?

I do indeed believe that economic class has an affect on our judgement of people. Otherwise, homelessness would not be in the process of being criminalized by many cities. I also believe that if your economic class dictates that you have to work and vandwell in the same area, that stealth could very well be an issue for you - thus the example of my experience in Santa Fe. I do wish you the best, but I've done what you are asking about and thus chose to speak up. If you choose to ignore the stealth issue, for whatever reason, that of course is your choice. As I said, it may not be an issue for you at all, and only you can make that decision.

Best of luck with your journey,
Marie Angeli

I decided on a class A, for why look in the RV shopping part of my blog. The quoted length of a motorhome is usually wrong, if you care measure it. The width of my motorhome makes it harder to drive/park, don't forget that. (it takes 4 spaces - 2x2 or 4 side-by-side)

Here's a good older article on Glen and his really nice Class B. If I had the cost of the thing, I'd buy a nice one just like it!

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/financially_fit_article_113691.html

I always found this article ironic. Glenn eats almost nothing but organic, grass fed steak for crying out loud. They act like $11k a year is astonishing. I have NEVER lived on that much money even when renting. I would never be able to live in my RV if I spent even half that.

Or maybe it goes to show how pathetically poor and shafted I am.

I hear ya!! Having to go on medical welfare actually boosted up my yearly income by a couple of grand!! Livin' high on the hog.. OINK! OINK!
Strange thing is, when I had to apply for medical welfare, they said that, if not for my rather serious injury, I'd actually be ineligible!! Go figure.. I was too poor to get money in order to live below the poverty line! Presently, even with the added bux, I'm still living $3000-$4000 below the poverty line. ..Willy.
