Possibly 2026 then got to save up my paid vacation hours. Take a month off. 2025 will be Yellowstone for me.
Maybe Abnorm will paste your image into a photo and take mine out? Of course who knows where Pirate camp will be in the winter of 2026, likely not at an LTVA $$$

I know places here that is all good. Dispersed for sure. So it will be dispersed in a sense.that some in that public parking lot here...some there... some
by the creek...etc... but city life though

You have my Happy New Year wish that you be able to escape from that concept of “dispersed camping” life in the upcoming new year and be able to join around a Pirate Campfire in the desert or forest.

^^^Take another puff, throw another log on the fire, watch more cars drive by on the road from 10am until 10pm. Another happy New Year’s Eve celebration in Pirate Camp.

A new neighbor in a good sized 5th wheel has moved into our LaPosa South cul-de-sac street end. I now get to be experience the unpleasant misfortune of having a stereophonic generator symphony every evening until 10:00pm. One was bad enough, two is a misery.

The La Posa South water station is now officially on water rationing. The hours you can obtain water have now been cut way back. All those big motorhomes, bluebird type conversions a bit semi rigs with huge water tanks created so much demand the well can’t keep up. The demand on the system jumped up by, 4,000 gallons a day about a week ago.yesterday I personally saw the daily totals chart of the water meter readings at the pump facility building and can verify there was a HUGE jump in demand a week ago.

For those of us who just fill one to 5 gallon jugs the water filling station next to the Mobile gas station where BurgerKing used to be has salt free water for 25 cents a gallon.

I liked going to the La Posa water stations to get hair washing and shower water as it comes out of the tap preheated just enough to use for those task right away. I also learned that that water comes out of the ground at temperature over 200 degrees but it is typically just over 100 at mid day to late afternoon when it comes out of the water station faucets at La Posa South. It was a fun, educational, event to get a tour of the pumping station facility🙂

At Imperial Dam I have a peekaboo view of what appears to be a lake, but is in fact the wastewater treatment pond.

That and the golf course.

Make sure to treat fly bites well before they become infected! Don’t ask me why I don’t camp around waste water ponds anymore!

Ankle Update -

Last Sunday, I drove my van to the grocery store! It was ridiculously exciting!! When I got home, I had to take a nap.

It feels wonderful to be truly up and about. I am still a bit teetery, so I use a cane and carry my iPhone whenever I go outside, and my foot still hurts, but I am now taking pain meds just when I need them. All in all very pleased with myself.

The next visit I have with the foot doctor is on Jan 23, and he and I both expect it to be the last. I intend to drive myself to Astoria, which is about a 4-hour drive. I will probably leave the day before and spend the night on the road somewhere.

I have mold in my van, and have just started to wash everything. My BIL closed all the windows the last time he drove it, which was not a good idea. Although I probably would have gotten mold anyway, since it has been raining here of course. I am replacing my mattress and bedding. I had to wipe down the dashboard and dog house cover with vinegar, and that worked pretty well. Next step is wiping down the wooden furniture. I have to strike a balance between getting stuff done and incurring foot pain from too much too soon…

When will I be fully on the road again? Aiming for March…

I don't want to be a downer, and this may be nothing, but ... does your foot doctor know about your plan to drive to Astoria? When my Achilles tendon was bad, driving long stretches was hell on it. It seems like because you're sitting down it's no big deal -- but you don't sit the same in a car as you do in a chair. In fact, one of the first signs that I was finally getting better was that I didn't limp like drunken hunchback after I got out of the car.

Tendons and bones are not the same, and pain doesn't always mean damage, which is why I say "this may be nothing," but make sure you've checked your plan out fully, OK? Especially if you're moving far away from the specialist who's been taking care of you. And know how your pain pills are likely to affect your driving. Splitting the drive in two seems like a good idea, but you might even want to split it into three or four. Hopefully that won't be necessary, but maybe think about it? or test yourself first on a few more drives that are longer than a grocery run?

Still, all in all GREAT news. Congratulations and good luck!

Glad to hear you might get to escape. I do not feel the need to “cat herd”you since you have a team of doctors and nurses for that. Besides there is no way to get women to live restricted lives once they have gotten a taste of “free range living”🤣

It’s my left ankle that was broken, so not my driving foot. I have driven around the island enough to be pretty sure that I am good for at least a couple hours, and it’s just about 4 hours from here to Astoria.

I am pushing things a bit, since I am supposed to vacate these premises by the end of the month.

My doc wants me to use the foot as much as I am comfortable with.

Good to hear from you JACQUE................tough that you've got mold...........Paulette sez Hi !

Oh yeah, Doug, I am more than ready. HI back to Paulette! I have done some knitting, but I need a new glasses prescription. Or maybe my days of knitting with fine yarn are just over.

I MAY have found a place here on the island to rent for February at an off-tourist-season price I can just barely afford. My sister would prefer that I stay put through March as well, and she has a point. But I dunno. Maybe I’ll split the difference and shoot for mid-March. Stay tuned.
