i just rented out my house, long term, perhaps 3 years or more, so i have a lot more freedom to travel around now and some steady income, yeah!

still, i'm planning to spend at least 4 months a year (winter) back in Thailand since we have kids here, so i'm wondering about parking up a van for 4 months. it would be in the SF bay area somewhere, doesn't have to be silicon valley, could be a shit hole like Oakland or even further afield.

so i wonder what the costs are for something like that? i assume those self storage places provide long term parking and security? no idea really, anyone know?

thx

Outside storage should be as low as $35 a month. That's what I pay for my trailer for a 25 foot space in Flagstaff, AZ.

Security would be my concern.  Over on the mainstream rv forums, there are reports of stored rvs being broken into and rifled, batteries stolen, etc.  Personally, I wouldn't want to use an urban facility, but would look for someplace further inland, maybe even an hour or two from the city.  And I'd pay extra for a place with good security over a cheaper place with poor security.

Depends on what you carry for theft insurance, versus having anything inside to protect.
