Went through this last June. It is daunting to say the least. Will say, there was a sense of liberation when done. Good luck!

Cleanheart....it won't be memory you need but hard drive capacity... If you rip your movies (dvds) to 700 mb avi then you can store about 600 movies on a 500gb hard drive. If your hard drives is not that big or you would rather not use up all of your space. ....then you can always rip them to an avi and store them as data on a dvd... in this way you can store 5-6 movies on one dvd and then move them on and off you computer or watch them from the disk drive. This method will make 10 dvds hold approx 50 movies....this also works for music... you can rip it to mp3 and then store it on a cd or dvd even.... a cd will hold 100-130 mp3's as data and dvd will hold 400 to 450.. saving stuff to data on a dvd or cd is like using a flash drive or sd card ... with the difference being it is not re-usable... athough there are some methods for that also. I'm going to see about downloading my dvds to my laptop. Not sure if I can tho. I'll try. I may have to get more memory put on this thing. Then I can sell all my music and dvds. have a bunch of those.
