I have only just purchased this product from a Ray's Outdoors and love it and want to share it. It's like a straw that covers you and catches everything. and another one of my favorite features is that it can be washed in a washing machine.

http://www.shewee.com.au/

It's called a shewee, its a pretty much go anywhere device, its not only great for camping but also if you have come out of hospital or are disabled.

I must admit I had a bit of stage fright when I first used it, but love it now. I have also made a plastic bottle another addition to my car. Much better to use this then the plastic bags provided. I do recommend practicing in the shower before use.

Has anyone found any simple devices like this for number twos?

Thanks for this post, Maximum. I will be off to Ray's tomorrow. There is one, not all that far from where I live. I actually saw something similar in a catalogue, but was not prepared to buy unseen. And yes, any old plastic bottle would be ideal.

It will come in very handy for when there is no other than a primitive long-drop loo.

Lifey

No worries Lifey,
I live in a country area and have work and friends in the city. So some times instead of driving an hour and a half back home I sleep in the car, the only thing that had stopped me from doing this in the past is the need to pee. Something which is so easily fixed.

Just a note, the plastic bags it comes with are not very reliable and if you use a bottle it is much mroe discrete and you dont have to worry about unplesent accidental punctures.

Hey, Maximum, thanks for the tip! What's the material of the shewee? I got a "go girl," from a camping store, and it's very flexible material. It's difficult for me to position it, and keep a seal on it. Basically, you're supposed to hold it in the back and the front, at the same time. After not getting it quite right a couple times, well, I'm not sure I want to keep trying!

It would be great to be able to go into a bottle. My boyfriend doesn't understand why I don't just use a bush in a parking lot, while living in the van!

I have a similar device: http://www.rei.com/product/407267/sani-fem-freshette-feminine-urinary-director but I don't need it in my RV. I use it hiking and tent/kayak camping. The really neat thing about it is that I can use it with my zip-off [convertible] pants and insert it into place without ever exposing myself when I pee. It also has little attachable bags that I can use in the tent at night, tie them off and empty them in the morning. I wouldn't be without this device in the outdoors. Oh, and it's nice to use in dirty or rustic toilets, too!

they are really great.

I use the TravelJohn disposable urinal. For the other - trashbag, kitty litter & a bedside commode.

Anyone seen, tried, have one of these..... http://www.rei.com/product/662980/cleanwaste-pett-portable-environmental-toilet ?

Would like to hear.

Lifey

Yes. My sister has one and she carries it on her kayak [folded up, of course] and we set it up in camp. it works great! And somebody gets to carry the waste wag-bag back on their kayak.

Lifemagician, I've seen one of those at Cabella's. I have a Thetford porta potty though.

Some one on here mentioned a laundry detergent bottle.

Oooooh...I read that, but I understand now. It has that collector-like top. Great idea!

I tried the laundry detergent bottle...too weird to wash out in a public sink. Bucket with kitty litter in it...kitty litter got used up too fast. Bucket too big and in the way. Orange nalgene is PERFECT. Big enough opening for a female. Can't even tell there's pee in it until it gets pored out. Then, I use public restrooms for number 2.
Reading the responses here made me laugh to think that our "necessary needs", as humans sure levels the playing field between us and "celebrities" or royalty, etc. I read somewhere that royalty traditionally had someone called the "groom of the stool", to take care of all the unpleasantries associated with her or his royal highness's pooing and peeing needs.

Get a hydraulic fluid funnel for a couple of bucks. It is shaped very similar to a lot of the products you are using. I had searched for a portable female urinal for weeks and everyone was sold out at that time. The next time I was in the automotive section I happened to spot one of these funnels and realized they are the same shape. Works great!

Love your post Scarlette, where can I get one

Oh I like the idea of the hydraulic fluid funnel, I can't believe I never thought of it.

I saw a woman's urinal bottle in CVS drug store. less than $10. I have different plumbing and can't really test.
