I'm all about that base..............INTJohn

Just means the doctors will be busier again "diagnosing" all the medical "conditions" people that NEED marijuana for treatment ...

The trafficking and abuse of drugs in the United States affect nearly all aspects of our lives. The economic cost alone is immense, estimated at nearly $215 billion. The damage caused by drug abuse and addiction is reflected in an overburdened justice system, a strained healthcare system, lost productivity, and environmental destruction.

Ugh. This really upsets me. While I don't need this drug, I have found that for pain, it works best for me. Blah. My only other alternative is hyrdocodone which my doctor will not prescribe for me because it is so addictive. I am not alone there and opioid addiction actually has gone down in places where medical marijuana is allowed. If they crack down here in Michigan and make it more difficult for me to obtain marijuana, my choices will be to doctor shop until I get one who will prescribe hydrocodone and risk addiction, live in pain, or go back to buying marijuana the old fashioned way.

FWIW, at least in the case of marijuana, the biggest costs have been directly related to its prohibition.

No matter how much they try to crack down on drugs they're fighting a battle that they are never going to win. Wouldn't even worry about it. This administration isn't going to have the man power or time to do a 1/3rd of what they want.

Doubt he even makes it through his first time, the pressures are mounting fast. But that's a conversation for a different forum.

So...Trump wants to drop protecting transgender CHILDREN right's in using bathrooms in schools saying it's a "state's issue" but wants to extend the federal "arm of the law" in over-riding state's who have decided for themselves on marijuana issues.

#$@%^% !!!!!

Our famed War on Drugs has been going on for 40 years, and has been a dead loss. Our govt is so 'against' drugs that they volunteer to use our taxes to support the junkies and their habits, give them a cell phone and free medical care.

Dump the War on Drugs, let people make their own choices and use anything they want, but stop supporting them, catering to them, and providing medical care for the problems the drugs cause.

Does that include people addicted to tobacco and now have lung disease?  People addicted to sugar and food and now have diabetes?  People who are addicted to alcohol and now have health problems?  And what about people addicted to legal "drugs" like opiates and such?

That takes the cake for the least humane approach ever.

Is it political to remind people that the CIA got busted running drugs in the 80's?

I'm a damnable A-dult. What I do with my body is my business. Besides, you can't just "say" something is illegal....*walks away muttering about insane fancy monkees*.....that's an attempt at humor folks. If it upsets you, learn to relax

There's an easy way to omit this cost and burden on our judicial system: make it legal. All of it. Weed, coke, crystal meth, snort some battery acid if you like, who cares. As long as these drugs are illegal there will be a criminal market for them. Street crime.. Theft.. Murder.. Legal battles.. All a waste. Make it legal and the criminal market is removed.

How am I so sure the war on drugs is futile? Drugs can be obtained in federal prisons. If that kind of environment can be infiltrated with illegal drugs then so can anywhere. We're just wasting money and giving cause to crime by allowing this market to exist. Make it all legal and tax it and turn it into a profit. There is a recognized demographic of law enforcement personnel who feel the same way.

And for the record I don't use any drugs except alcohol.

I hate to be the one that tells you,but the federal government has plants in every beer making operation in the country, and they put cocaine or marijuana or acid in the beer.  Its all a plot!  ;)  ( The feds, not the locals)   :D

If people are found with drugs in their system, they will have to use the highly profitable federal prison machine INC.

Countries that have legalized drugs have had most of the negative issues associated with them go away. The war on drugs was lost, why it's still going is anyone's guess. Alcohol is just as dangerous as the next drug, legalize, legislate and be done with it. Most people who use drugs whether it be alcohol, weed, cocaine and even opiates are able to do it responsibly. I know quite a few people who use all of the above regularly and all are upstanding citizens. (Not all combined, different drugs for different people)

I have serious issues with one adult telling another adult what they can or can not do with their own body. So long as you're not hurting others (2nd hand smoke, driving under the influence, physcial/verbal abuse of others, etc) than every man and woman is supposed to be free to do as they please. The fact that it's otherwise is absurdly absurd.
