It has been a rainy and chilly winter here in the Arizona desert (raining now in beautiful Ajo, & 2 nights ago it got down to 27 degrees!)

So some people are predicting a fine desert bloom in the late winter/spring. Is there a website or other source which gives news of desert blooms? I want to get to the blooms before the hordes of city slickers descend on a bloom and detract from enjoying the experience.

Blanch has posted some awesome photos, elsewhere.

I just checked her site, and the nav doesn't work for me, but her photos are well worth the effort. :)
I suspect she's shy about pimping her site. ;)

P.S. Blanch, moar critter pics, please. :D
It would also be kewl to have a categorized portfolio area - no rush, I know you're busy.

I'm in Yuma and its already starting, as soon as the warmth hits it will explode. Death Valley should be spectacular this year and crowded.

I know that Quartsite has some flowers and is turning greener by the day. Last time I was in Ehrenberg there were purple flowers all over the place.

hey you guys nice looking waffle iron I saw on youtube. good job.

the BLM has a wild flower tracker, but I can't find it at the moment.

Thanks HDR!  By the way some of the purple flowers currently blooming are lupines and Scorpion Weed.  We took a nature walk two days ago in the canyon and they were beautiful.

so I get the BLM's news letter for California this was in todays news letter,

"As of February 21, 2019, it is currently snowing in Carrizo Plain National Monument, so no big blooms of flowers yet."

I was in Beaumont today which is right on the I-10 just west of Palm Springs, it snowed there last night.

anyhow here's some links from the BLM's news letter,

so that's all I got for now. I will post more info as it becomes available.

Millions of tiny blooms are starting or are ready to pop in Quartzsite. I drive out and look most days. It’s going to be a big bloom! I took a couple of friends out yesterday to see the start of the blooms in a spot a few miles from Dome Rock.

It’s amazing!!
And it has barely started. Yesterday we saw an entire mountain side carpeted in purple flowers.
