Hey, everyone. I'm Chris, and my wife Beth and I just purchased "Melanie," a 1999 Pleasure Way widebody class B. We're so new at this RVing thing, we make newbies look experienced!  :shy: That's certainly not going to stop us though. Our rig is legal; now we're getting it fixed up and ready to hit the road. We're not in a position yet to RV full time but we can't wait to take extended trips and see the sights. We'd love to make Quartzite next year too. Hoping to become a valuable member of the forum.

Welcome! Got any pictures of "Melanie"?

Are you planning on fulltiming or mostly for vacations?

Hey guys, welcome.  Where in Mass are you from? Us Massholes are vastly unrepresented on the road, so it's good to see a new face.

Hi guys and welcome to the forum. Hope you both have a great time with the RV'n!

Welcome aboard Chris !
You picked a nice rig for your first !!

Right now we'll be vacationing, as we depend on state-supplied health insurance but we would love to eventually do it full time. It'll be interesting to see what happens with healthcare under the new administration. I am enclosing a preliminary picture of Melanie. It's cold and rainy so I ducked out onto the front porch to snap a photo but I'll include more if it ever warms up around here. lol

We are in Norton, about 10 minutes from Gillette Stadium (New England Patriots).

If "Massholes" is what people would be known by; I suspect there may be more on the road than suspected, they just don't want to be labelled as such ...

Massholes are proud to be massholes.

It's mostly a Red Sox fan thing, but having a Masshole bumper sticker in Mass is like having a Redneck sticker in Oklahoma - a badge of pride.

Hi Welcome to the forum neighbor. I was born and raised in Weymouth, pass through Norton fairly regularly as my Mom lives there now. I can empathize with you not wanting to leave because of the health insurance, of all Mass's shortcomings, health insurance isnt one of them in my opinion. They provide excellent health care. I became disabled and am now on Medicare, however Mass insurance was better. Hope to be off disability soon though and then I'll be re entering the crazy world of dysfunctional healthcare but that's a topic for another thread.

I guess i'm an oddity as I don't like the term Masshole, as I think a lot of people from Mass are in fact ******** and then to be proud about it, never quite understood it. I don't understand their love for Dunkin's either. So it's no surprise I abandoned ship and relocated to Maine, much rather be a maniac. Damn accent gives me away every time though! Although more than one person has asked me where in Ireland i'm from....one being a lady actually from Ireland, so I must be convincing.

I've actually been giving the cold shoulder a few times in my travels once they found out I was from Mass. So where ever I go I try and change people's persona. After all I may be the only person they ever meet from Mass and their opinion of the state will rest squarely on my shoulders. I carry that same attitude when traveling out of country.

Thanks for the reply! I get the feeling most of New England--not just Mass--is very underrepresented in the RV world. I don't use the term Masshole; I prefer Taxachusetts--more accurate. lol. I'm trying to upload a picture but can't get it to work yet. The avatar keeps showing it upside down too. Eventually I'll figure it out. Yeah, we love MassHealth but conversely, it's kind of a ball and chain too.

I feel you on the ball and chain, wish they'd just mirror image Mass's system for the entire country. It def kept me hostage here years longer than I would have liked. I finally reached my breaking point and left the state and it's health insurance while disabled (probably not the brightest idea) and finally was able to get on medicare about 11 months later. I can't even tell you how much better I feel just living two hours away. Feel like I can breath again with out taxes and rules and regulations at every corner. Mass is like living at your parents house, where you forced to follow all these rules you don't agree with.

But it is home, will always feel like home and there are parts of the state I truly do love.

To have MassHealth for the whole country would mean Masstax for the whole country, that's the trade off
Nothing is free

Hi there, welcome!

Born and raised in MA, I'm currently in Weymouth. Although I don't call myself a Masshole, I don't consider that term a badge of honor. hahaha But I can't wait to get our of this state.

Anyway, congrats on the purchase and look forward to hearing about your adventures. :)

Hey, Cheli, thanks for your greeting. We no sooner purchased our RV when the weather went downhill. It's been cold, rainy, snowy, etc. Until then we'd been having a mild winter. So Melanie sits in the driveway waiting like us. Now we're getting this latest storm! lol If she were ready we would have been long gone. Most of the work on her is done; she just needs new shocks and a thorough cleaning. The propane is filled so we're getting there. My wife and I both have ITCHY FEET! Can't wait to start traveling. As I type this post, I'm listening to the Grateful Dead's debut album--awesome driving music. Can you tell I'm anxious?? ROFL
