New/old camper.. I just SCOOOOOOORED!!

Just picked this Alaska camper up today. For the year, it's in quite excellent condition and I'm surprised (and gratified) that nobody had scooped it already. I just got back with it and it's both dark and pissing rain.. so no photos til tomorrow. Wanted one of these for YEARS! ..Willy. Well, here are some more photos. Decided to strip part of the ceiling, seeing as it had 'bowed' in. essentially, they had two 2"x2"x10' lengths keeping the works up.. no wonder! Still, for something almost 50 yrs old, that ain't bad. Thin yellow fibreglass insulation doesn't help much, so I figure on stapling in 1 or 2 layers of Ayrfoil insulation (reflectix clone) and leave the fibreglass in. I was gonna use plastispan.. but they were out at the 2 places I visited.. and the Ayrfoil costs less ($22 for a 4'x12.5' roll). Afterward, I'll stick up some 1/4" ply on the ceiling, which is what it originally came with. <br>&nbsp;Another thing I found out was that buddy had 'dropped' the rig on something and punched a hole in the floor. Instead of getting all anal 'n such, I figured I'd slap some 3/4" ply I had lying around over it. This serves 2 additional purposes, stiffening up the floor and providing a lip to keep my porta potti from sliding around. ..Willy. <br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br>

I still have my other one, since I need something to live in while I get this one ready. Might just keep both units, since I have a place to store 'em. The other unit (my Vanguard) is an EXCELLENT winter camper, roomy and warm. Unfortunately, it also pushes a lotta wind and kills my MPG, as well as being a bear to take into the backwoods. I'm gonna see what I can do with the pop-up camper, re. winterizing, and if it looks good I'll stick with that and sell the other one. <br>&nbsp;If I get my disability, then I'll be headed down south to Arizona for the winter.. and the Alaska camper would RULE in the desert. ..Willy.

Well, I went to Rona and they had some 3/4"x4'x8' sheets of Plastispan insulation.. so I returned the Ayrfoil insulation and grabbed 2 sheets of the Plastispan. What I did was, in each space on the ceiling, to friction-fit one piece with the radiant barrier facing up, with the other having the radiant barrier facing down. Still kept the fibreglass insulation, but managed to 'sneak' some Reflectix I had sitting around about 10" down the curved sides. &nbsp;I insulated a camper, abt 8 yrs ago, with the plain white styrofoam sheet (abt 1-1/2" thick) and, yes, it was amazingly warm. It was also nice 'n cool during the summer. ..Willy.

Waterproof, looks good, tough, and hides imperfections. I made a mistake and got the thick stuff.. shoulda got the thinner felt-back lino.
