I've been thinking about doing this myself. I had a Geo Metro back in the early 90s and I've always regretted trading it in on a bigger vehicle. I want to travel all over the country for a year, meeting the many friends I've made online, before settling down to boondocking in the West. It seems like the amazing mpg Metros get (45 highway) would allow me to do that economically, using a tent when I can for more comfortable camping and sleeping in the car when necessary. There's a Geo Metro for sale in my area right now that I'm tempted to buy and fix up, but I'm scared I'll regret it.

Do let us know how it goes for you!

I had a Geo metro years ago. I loved it. This little car got up a snow bound road and passed a 4 wheel jeep (neighbor) that couldn't. Boy was he embarrassed. I let my (at the time) step daughter drive it and she totaled it. I would still have that car in a hot minute.
I am in a G3 pontiac now 31 mpg but low to the ground. Dang. Wish I could fix that.
Little red is good, I'm hoping I can get all I need in her.
kidiekat

well, update. i warped a head becuase i pulled a stupid and did not get a new radiator. damn 60 dollar part.
now im stuck back in yuma fixing it. almost there.
i also found out that i can downsize to a large backpack. ill keep some stuff in storage, but this way i just look like a guy passing thrrough, not a car dweller.

I wouldn't want to think about leaving S. Az this time of year as a car-dweller, but then, I'm an old guy so I'm gonna hunker down in Q for the winter.
Margie used to have a Geo in Or and it was lousy on rain slick streets or ice. She liked it cuz she's short and could see well, plus cheap to run. I never drove it, nor rode in it. I felt safer in my truck.

Good luck getting it all together.

Welcome Nemo !!

I too have had geo metros/suzukis and LOVE THEM!!. I currently have a sidekick 4dr 4wd that I won't get rid off. I wished that I would have kept/rebuilt my metro that I had as well!
Best luck and wishes to you on your "journey" !!
Randy
