Very nice setup~! I really like your NYC stories. I learned a lot. I think I want to try that out once I am mobile myself...

ah yes one other addition I almost forgot: &nbsp; SKEETER BEATER!!!!!<div><br></div><div><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><a href="http://www.theskeeterbeater.com/" target="_blank">http://www.theskeeterbeater.com/</a></div><div><br></div><div>can't live without em. &nbsp;keeps *all insects out* without denying you a breeze</div>

</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">Honestly no they're not stealth at all, but in the south where mosquitoes are legion the skeeter beater is a necessity no matter what the consequences. &nbsp;I haven't been using them here but what's crazy is I don't think I've met a single mosquito in NYC so far. &nbsp;</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">I mentioned this fact to a local and she said "yeah there's no&nbsp;mosquitoes in New York because the bedbugs ate them all". &nbsp;I'm sure that was sarcasm but still it points to yet another advantage to van living... You never have to worry about bedbugs because you have full control over your bedroom and you know it's history.. there was no previous owner to infest it. Plus if you ever do somehow get bedbugs it's possible to raise the temp inside the van enough to kill them, which usually isn't possible in a regular ole apartment. &nbsp;</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">-Triumph&nbsp;</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Courier"><br></font></div>

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Courier"><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">By the way for those following my progress.. &nbsp;I've learned enough about the parking situation here to never need to leave Manhattan. &nbsp;I now know how to park indefinitely in several different neighborhoods. &nbsp;Lately I've been parking in the East Village area near Washing Square Park. &nbsp;I only have to change spots 2 times per week, and I could pretty much stay forever on the same block if I wanted to. &nbsp;parkpalnync.com is your friend.</span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">An example of my parking routine: &nbsp; The block where I'm currently parked is a one way street with parking spots lining both the left and right sides of the street. &nbsp; On the right side the signs say "No parking Mon and Thurs 9:30am to 10:30am". &nbsp; On the other side of the street the signs say "No parking Tues and Fri 9:30am to 10:30am". &nbsp; So it's just a matter of switching sides of the street at the right times a few times a week. &nbsp; You can reliably predict when spots will be open on the other side of the street because you know exactly what time people will be forced out of those spots. &nbsp;</span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">As for food.. I'm not even going to talk about expensive food because it's the cheap food that's really blowing my mind. &nbsp;I'm eating delicious authentic international foods prepared by immigrants and served up on the cheap. &nbsp;I'm saving so much money living here it's ridiculous. &nbsp;</span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">TODAYS MEALS:</span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">LUNCH:</span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">Mamouns - greenwich village</span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; "><br></span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">falaffel sandwich&nbsp;</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Courier; ">$3.50&nbsp;</span></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Courier"><a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/mamouns-falafel-new-york-2" target="_blank">http://www.yelp.com/biz/mamouns-falafel-new-york-2</a></font></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">(not only was it delicious and freshly prepared but it was almost more than I could finish for less than $4). &nbsp;I had my own water with me and I got this to go.. so there were no hidden charges for drink or anything)</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><br></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">DINNER:&nbsp;</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">Punjabi - east village</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">two vegi dishes over rice - $3</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">chat $1</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">samosa with chickpeas $1</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">to drink they only serve water.. and it's free.. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/punjabi-grocery-and-deli-new-york" target="_blank">http://www.yelp.com/biz/punjabi-grocery-and-deli-new-york</a></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><br></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><div>COFFEE</div><div>I don't remember where I bought my double espresso but it was $2.50</div><div><br></div><div>MIDNIGHT SNACK</div><div>$0.99 slice of cheese pizza at some 24hour takeout only hold in the wall. &nbsp;</div></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><br></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><br></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">So basically I can eat out for every meal and have it cost about as much as my told typical lunch of buritto and chips @ Chipolte back in Atlanta. &nbsp;</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><br></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">Talk about cheap van living! <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "><br></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; ">-triumph</div></font></div>

<div><br></div><div>Most of my family and extended family lives in GA and some of them have most graciously allowed me to share their mailbox. &nbsp; My van is registered in GA, I have a GA drivers license that doesn't expire until 2016, and I have a GA tag that expires in October. &nbsp;I had an emissions inspection before I left GA so that should allow me renew the tag by mail for 2 years before I need another inspection. &nbsp; My dad is watching the mailbox for the mail-in tag renewal and when it arrives he's going to mail it in for me.. Once the happens the DMV will send him the new sticker to put on my tag and he's going to mail that to my sister in Brooklyn who will pass it on to me.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>

VERY cool Triumph! Visited NYC in March, 2001. Breakfasted at Top of the World. Very angry, sad, etc. about 9/11.&nbsp; Being a small town guy my whole life, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the visit. And how much MORE there was to see and do.&nbsp; Would love to return with the missus&nbsp;someday and&nbsp;use your posts as a guide. Or better&nbsp;yet have you as a guide. Vanning is cool and knowing where, when and how to park really helps. Looking forward to more posts. <br>In PDX,&nbsp;OR for now,<br>jb&nbsp;<br>
