So glad to have started my RV journey here with you all.  So much information and community.  I owned a sailboat for 5 years, completing dc system, plumbing, solar & wind gen etc.  Now on to the rv/van journey.  Definitely in research mode.  Just booked a class B van rental to begin the research and see how they live.  A good friend has a classic ford high top camper van, which I like a lot, but seem hard to find them for sale.   Curious whether people like vans vs. towables better here?  Looking forward to making great community with everyone.  Jake

Welcome jdaly to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started. There are cars, minivans, vans, rv's (including B's), trailers and busses. Probably missed some.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the CRVL Forum :)

You could have both a Van with trailer. The Van have the essentials like a bed, small galley kitchen, Ice Chest, 5 or 6 gallon Jerry Cans for water. You could stow clothing and bath towels under the bed, food and utensils in the kitchenette, a house battery (if you need) and so forth. Then the trailer could contain everything else you want along.

The first link below showcases my thinking on how to go about this. The second link
is a portal of info to plan with or use once on the road.

All the best !
