Hi there, I’m David aka Shrek, new guy to this site but have been watching Bob and others on U-tube off and on for about 1-1.5 years.

THE BASICS:  divorced (16 yrs), 2 kids, maybe a granddad??, my family(siblings) all live in either Scotland, London England, Gibraltar, and Barcelona Spain. Basically I’m out here on my own.

I have been thinking of becoming a nomad for a long time but got side tracked for a while in a relationship (? I’m better now).

About 3 years ago I bought an ex-military (Canadian) ambulance and was going to hit the road living the good life with no Big Brother checking up on me.  Started out easy with camping trips working out the kinks so to speak but figured up real quick that the vehicle wasn’t what I was looking for although it was for me the perfect concept for the open road. Think a lot of the kinks were due to the relationship living in tight spaces (wasn’t working for the female) and all the little extras that in the end we were not using but just had to have, just in case etc ?

I have experience in camping, outdoor stuff, it’s just the actual long term application, I am coming down to the wired due to lose of $$ in may/June 2018 where it’s not if but when I actually do it.

Right now I’m working on downsizing my stuff lol, gave notice to landlady for may 2018, she is buying all the household stuff I am leaving, the rest of the stuff I can’t bring with me will go into storage for a while till I can sort out the issues that I have with not being able to travel with them (border crossing) as well as type of vehicle I will end up using.

Currently my vehicle thoughts revolve around my Ford Expedition or a 20’ - 24’ Class ‘C’ rv. I’m also thinking about Solar, #batteries, for my needs (work in progress) think I’ve pretty much got everything else I might need, well except the potty thingy still thinking about that lol although Bob’s shop gave me an idea to try at home.

I am thinking about RTR for a trial run, but not sure about weather conditions or routes from the Frozen North(Western Canada)down through Northern States although I’m thinking of heading towards Nevada as perhaps an easier route, going to chat to the local charter bus folks who go to Vegas during winter months.

End of ramble for now.  Don’t see a profile photo option on here so attached a couple of me on my better days ??? david

K I just noticed the photo spot, but can’t for the life of me figure out how to post a photo onto my profile. Assistance would be appreciated. FYI I’m not the smartest tool in the online box. Thanks in advance
