I am getting ready to purchase either an EXPRESS or SAVANA. I am working on my floorplan and need three dimensions. Pics are attached showing the information I need.

Thanks, in advance !

I won't be getting it from a car lot. I especially need the length on the inside from the closed back doors to the start of the side door opening. I'm debating between a regular or extended wheelbase van. I'd prefer that standard model, but need to know how much room I have to work with. It will be a windowless cargo van.

Thanks . . . Now I have a number of 53" +/- for the interior height, before the plywood floor and the ceiling panels are installed. One down, two more to go THANKS for your help !

I still need the interior width, from rib to rib, over the rear wheel-wells and the inside distance from the closed rear doors to the start of the side door opening.

Thanks, in advance !

doesn't matter who you are buying it from the measurements don't change. highdesertranger

There are many reasons someone might not have access to do these measurements. I have many times measured something in the astro for someone. Its not a problem for most folks.
I found this for ya. one more dimension to go!

2013 Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana

Most Powerful Available Engine: 6.6L turbodiesel V-8, 260 hp, 525 lb-ft of torque
Maximum Cargo Volume: 284.4 cu. ft.
Maximum Cargo Length: 146.2 inches
Maximum Cargo Height: 53.4 inches
Width Between Wheel Wells: 52.7 inches

Read more: http://www.trucktrend.com/features/...l_size_van_numbers/viewall.html#ixzz2QaeaUaZp

No, but if you don't have access to the vehicle, it does matter.

As I said, I am trying to decide if I need an RB or an EB. When I decide, I will then be buying either an Express or a Savana ( 2500 or 3500 ). Either way, it will be purchased used and I am looking for a 2003-2006 model with the 6.0L (LQ4) and 4L80E transmission.

Unfortunately, it's still "two to go" . . .

I had the 53" height figure from a previous post. However, I knew the distance between the wheel-wells before that.

What I need is the "rib to rib width" distance on top of the wheel-wells. The other figure only gives the width of the floor in between them.

I get 67" from the back door to the inside edge of the rubber seal for the rear side door. My van is a '96 Express, but has been upfitted (low-top conversion), so the rear door is slightly padded. I do not have access to the ribs, so can't held with the width measurement.

Vickie

Vickie,

Excellent . . . Thank you, so much, for taking the time to measure that for me !

So, as it stands now, I have a maximum Interior Height of 53" before floor installation and ceiling paneling and a distance of 67" from the inside of a closed, padded rear door to the start of the Side Door opening as 67" ( Probably another inch or so minus the padding).

The only measurement I still need is the Interior Width, on top of the wheel-wells, from rib to rib.

Many thanks, Vickie !

Dave

working in construction in the past I know if 5 people have a tape and measure something you are going to get at least 2 or more different measurements. of all the people I know I really only trust 1 guy when it comes to accurate measuring. well 2 if I count myself. highdesertranger

I am the same way but, unfortunately, I don't have access to a van to measure. Since I'm only doing my initial layout for the floorplan, and trying to decide between the RB or EB platform, an "inch" off won't be catastrophic.

Well, I only need one final measurement. Can anyone out there supply the "missing piece" of the puzzle?

Pic attached to show what I am talking about . . . The interior width, above the wheel-wells, from rib to rib.

Thanks, in advance !

You are very welcome! I agree with highdesertstranger about measurements. As a sewing hobbyist, I recognize how those "little" variances can add up!

Vickie

Vickie,

I'll take what info I can get. Hopefully, someone can provide that last dimension for me. I'm pretty sure that the lower portion of the ribs over the wheel-wells will need to be trimmed to allow for sufficient width for the bed to be installed. It would be nice to have the rib to rib width, as it would give me a solid "starting point" to work with.

Dave
