An old New England bit of wisdom and an apt one, at that.
Great comment Phantom Blooper, I am always amazed at what we here in the US throw away?! I have seen trucks filled to the top with 2nd hand clothes going to Mexico while I've been on the road!
-AK

I am a firm believer in mending and repairing and using something until it is worn out.

If clothes are serviceable I will donate them

If they are not.....they are turned into rags...char cloth...or cut the legs off...sew up one end....fold over the open end about an inch....attach a cord....and make ditty bags or sacks for possibles or gear......make quilts...or rag rugs....

If it's cheaper to repair than replace.....fix it up.... in my opine....

I applaud your efforts... Admittedly I could be doing more...

@Phantom, Ever been involved in the shining times?

I do make use of things until their very last possible use...but this is more out of thriftyness than pure altruism.

owl...I'm not quite sure what you mean.....

The only shining times that I know of is when my granddaughter was watching Shining Times Station about a choo choo train...

Please elaborate.

Thanks!
