What do you mean by charting for Motel 6?

I just gauged how many miles I'd drive at the beginning of each day and searched for a few different Motel 6's as waypoints to reach on my GPS.

It seems that late at night with hotels that are near the interstate exits, all magically be full of cars parked in the parking lot. People are definitely pulling in to snooze. Like the parking space right in front of each room would be where the car of the tenant would be parked, just 1 car per room, rarely 2......but all the other spaces would be filled.

I stayed at a Motel 6 in Albuquerque.  Someone broke into several rooms at 3 AM and took the TV's and mini fridges.  They got caught when I called the front desk as they were trying to take the beds out a second floor walkway.  I was refunded my room, and given a free nights stay at the next place.   :dodgy:

I look for safer places to stay overnight now.

Sheesh.....   that some balsy and stupid criminals.   :dodgy:

Reminds me of an episode of the old video program, "America's Dumbest Crooks".

In Indianapolis some of those big hotels are homeless shelters.

The Denny's parking lot is sometimes shared with a motel parking lot. When I traveled sleeping in a pickup truck with topper I would park close to the large truck parking but still in the car spaces. Go in and eat dinner then climb in the back sleep, get up and eat breakfast and leave after all they are 24 hour restaurants.

I've gotten rooms at a couple of nice Motel 6's. They asked for my vehicle make, color and plate number. A lot of hotels do that to keep non-paying guests out of their lots. So I avoid hotel lots unless it's a place where I've gotten a room before --recently ,because policies change -- and I know they don't ask for that info.

I just spent a few nights in the Motel 6 at Holbrook, Az. Much nicer than the last one I was in, that's for sure. The second night a big motor home was in the truck lot next to the motel with its slides out obviously getting a freeby.
