In electricity, there is no such thing as modified sine wave. If it is not a smooth wave it is not sine. So, we have sine wave, square wave, and modified wave. Modified is a square wave that is stepped rather than just on/off/reverse, the more steps the better the inverter. Cheap one have fewer or just one step. I would not recommend any but what the manufacturers call pure sine wave for anything except an on/off heating type appliance. My Samlex has been trouble free with my microwave and the Mr Coffee.
