Micro AC units. Why are these not available in the U.S? Or are they?

While looking over AC options for my van conversion I stumbled upon these from Dometic. The smallest model is only 3400btu, but would be more than enough for my cargo van. Unfortunately, it appears as if these are only available in 220V and not available at all here in the U.S

Does anyone happen to know of any similar sized rooftop AC units that are available here? I really don't expect to use AC very often, but these look like they would work with even the smallest of generators and maybe even off an inverter.

http://www.my-caravanning.com/en/products/air-conditioning/

Might be the coolent used is illegal in USA. Have seen lots of other options people use in their vans.

Uses 134A, which is what most vehicle's now use since R12 was outlawed.
I'm not a fan.

Fact they only outlawed r12 to make money as the Space shuttle vents 1 million pounds a mission.

3500 BTU's is a little small when the sung gets out in the South Summers. Look for Dog house A/C's or boat A/C's.

The 5000 BTU Window A/C units are still $ 100 and an easy $ 35 put in your drivers side window.

James AKA Lynx

I am putting a 5000 btu unit in the back of my camper, mounted just above the tailgate. They worked well in a friends 8x12 trailer.

The ClimateRight unit does look... errr... cool, but it looks like it is designed to have the unit outside of the enclosure to be cooled. The maintenance manual says it is not warranted for "inside" use.
