Hi all! I'm brand new to this forum, don't live in a van yet, and have so many questions! I'm seriously considering van life as a means to no longer pay rent. One thing I kept wondering that doesn't seem to really get addressed, is how do you keep your makeup, toiletries, medications, etc...from getting damaged in a hot van in a Texas summer?

Makeup and toiletries can be stored in the cooler fridge to keep it from melting. Some medications can not be put into a fridge, contact your pharmacy and ask about the storage temperatures of each medication.

How will you keep cool in the hot van in the TX summer?

The answer is to keep your van interior cool. If you plan to stay in TX during the hot months, you will want to invest in plenty of insulation, window coverings (Reflectix), and seriously consider an air conditioner. One of the beauties of van life is that you have wheels and can move to more comfortable climes in the summer!

You can also use things like an ammo box to help keep medicines and makeup cooler.

How about using one of those little coolers – one made for a six pack. I actually have one that looks almost like a make up container. I would think that cosmetics and meds would stay enough cooler in a mini ice chest so you wouldn’t even need to put ice in it.

Ditch the 'make up'. You are beautiful the way you are. With Love, A Man Who Is NOT Required to Make Up.

Welcome, happyhiker39! Also, I agree with LathrenJames...I was never a fan of make-up on a woman. Natural beauty is always more beautiful.
