So I set out from upstate SC to Colorado Springs with 2 mutts in a minivan. The trip was just gorgeous the whole way. The Appalachian mountains were much more stunning than I expected. I stayed overnight with a friend in Oklahoma. The midwest seems surprisingly similar to the south. Spent the entire next day driving through Kansas, which was quite boring except for the wind turbines. On a future trip, when I have the means, I will take backroads and see more sights. I came into the springs late at night and I almost stopped about an hour away so I could see the mountains when I came in for the first time, but I'm glad I didn't. Coming over that hill and seeing the city all lit up before me was a sight to see.
I stayed in walmart parking lots for a few days, but I was too concerned about my dogs staying the van to look for work effectively. So I got a cheap room in a house that is very dog friendly. But I can see Pikes Peak from the house so I ain't complainin. And in the future, I will invest in a rig that is more accommodating to 3 living bodies moving around in it and re-launch. In the meantime, I predict lots of camping and hiking (as soon as my lungs adjust to the altitude).
If I can figure out how to post pics from my android, I will share my awesome view with everyone.
