I have searched the forums and youtube videos and don't see much on van or RV insurance, class A B C differences or price ranges or anything.  Please advise where to locate, as I'm sure the topic already exists.

I have searched the forums and youtube videos and do not see much of anything on the topic of insurance.  I am currently researching which type of van to purchase - class B campervan, conversion van, or a cargo van to convert myself.  I am looking for the price differences in insurance coverage, and which type of van is the cheapest to insure?
For example, is insurance cheaper for a regular cargo van, or commercial work van, or for a class B campervan?

I think the class B offers the lowest rate, but I would like to confirm this.
I assume the topic of insurance already exists somewhere, please point me to it's location.  Thank you.

Hi and Welcome! I am new to this forum myself. Not sure what you are driving but on an 04 Class B Van in the state of Louisiana, I am paying about $100/mo for insurance - that is through the same provider that insures my car but it's not a regular policy, rather a separate "RV policy." My driving record is perfect and that's the lowest I could get. The other thing I have in terms of insurance is a policy from Coachnet. They are available to everyone is the US I believe. They offer Roadside Assistance, ok, but Also offer something called "RV Protect". The cutoff year for my RV van is 2004 so I barely qualified. The price was, to be honest, slap you in the face sticker shock, but I got it anyway because I'm not the DIY-er that I would love to be and am working to be. The salespeople were responsive, and very nice, but I wish I would have understood what the deal Really was before purchasing it. So here's the scoop. RV Protect is actually a "re-insurance" policy that is offered through a third party! Nobody told me that. When I needed to make a claim, Coachnet referred me directly to the third party and I have no choice but to work with them. They don't pay for everything by any stretch of the imagination and there is a Contract that I had not been made aware of. In short, if you go the Coachnet route, ask who the re-insurer is and request a copy of the Contract BEFORE you sign up with RV Protect thru Coachnet. Then you know what you are really getting. :p Best to you, and safe travels!

Good Sam has RV insurance, and they insure my car as well. I also have their roadside assistance. They have other products as well, such as something called Travel Assist. Call, talk to them, read the websites, do your due diligence. They are also just a consolidator (my term for them) in that they pick what they think is the best insurance company for your situation. Or, maybe the best one for their bottom line. Not really sure. However, it was cheaper than my previous carrier. No claims yet, so can't speak to that.

I just have a van not an RV and even with those some insurance companies won't insure it. I had esurance and they said the van is classified as commercial. I ended up going with Progressive and they insured it no problem. I think Progressive insures just about anything. I would check online or give them a call.

I'll be following this post as well, I'd like to see what there is out there.  We have Farm Bureau insurance for our farm, equipment, house and all vehicles,  "Farm Master"

We have 2 RVs  & had no trouble getting coverage on either one.  I don't know what we pay, as it's all under one big plan.  But I will follow this post and check what we pay
