Lots of alt setups are more than that, and if you're talking a large high CAR bank, it would be pretty silly to have that little if you're burning dino juice.

So even if one doesn't have that much yet, it is worth the slight loss of SoC precision not to have to rewire later.

Of course, having shunt ammeters at other specific circuit's with lower currents is another matter, above I'm just talking about measuring **everything** in and out the bank, which is required for estimating SoC.
 
My inverter is wired and fused for 200 amps. I have to use my microwave, no choice.

If you're talking about the SmartGauge, Merlin and its inventor "Gibbo" have clearly stated it is designed to only work with lead chemistries.
