I did a search and I didn't find a whole lot of information of Lifepo4 batteries, or at least the experience people have had with them. I'm pretty much set on not paying more than a dollar per amp hour at this point, so unless I get lucky and some fall out of the sky magically for me, I'll probably go without. The maxim that 'if it seems to good to be true, it probably is' is something I've come to live by, so instead of getting excited and recklessly getting these things shipped from China, could perhaps someone with more knowledge than me look at these and tell me where I'm not seeing the glaring flaw of these batteries? They advertise a 1000+ cycle life at 80% DOD, so they caught my attention. The price per unit is so cheap I'm really skeptical.

That's strange, I'm not logged in.

It's a large investment in learning before one's ready to start plonking down money, even DIY much more than even the highest quality AGM.

One good place to start:

Turnkey integrated systems are currently the way to go otherwise, but that's a rich man's game.

$125 is a good price for 100 Ah 3.2v LiFePO4 cells in the US, I've seen $105 for NOS no warranty cells. You need sets of 4, but they replace about twice as many Ah of lead-acid for a variety of reasons.

$300 for a 200Ah 4-cell pack is an excellent price, but you need to buy at least 5 and pay hazardous freight rates from china, then wait for the ship and customs. (With the new regulations, air freight of any large lithium cells is difficult and expensive.) Don't expect a usable warranty.

My blog (link below) has info on LiFePO4, and a resources page that links to other info I've found.

I presumed it to mean not air transport. I didn't give it a second thought. Maybe they went by truck to France and then took the chunnel. They did finish that all the way to New York, didn't they? : )
