When I started flying I'd cross the lake when flying to camp on the west end of the U.P. via Ludington to Manitowoc as it's the narrowest point, 60 miles. But soon I just did a point to point straight line. much faster & I believe when it's your time you die. Under 2 hours in the Beech Bonanza with a cruise speed of 185 & 1000+ mile range

Fall is in the air……..
Awoke this AM to 44 degrees and for a short time fired up the “furnace”.

Will split a bunch of wood today as daily kampfires aren’t too far off.

Whatsup 2day, jonny boi? Hmmm I’ve discovered that one of my van keyless fobs will not start the van.
The push button locks work fine and I’ve replaced with a brand new Duracell batree. Still refuses to start the van. Using the but end to push the start button also doesn’t work.

The other fob worx perfectly.

I’ve referenced the Promaster Forums and I’m not going to trouble myself with all the possibilities & troubleshooting remedies.
Sooo 2day I’ll make a trip to a Dodge dealer and have them resync the thing or whaver they gotta do. Prolly take them but a few minutes 🤷🏻‍♂️ and or get a new 1……..

Start me up!

Ok, back to the Failed Fob Festivities (preev post).
Ended up blowing off the dealership and contacting my trusted mechanic that I go back 25ish years…….
“Yeah dude we can handle that. Text me a pik of the Van VIN and I’ll get back with you 2maro.”

^^^Lol!!! I can remember when you actually had a metal key you had to put in a cylinder and turn to unlock things so I installed hidden push buttons that used relays and electric solenoids that worked great til the battery went dead. Now you can fix things via blue tooth I guess, wave your magic wand over it and make it better! Lol!!! Probably got to near something and erased it’s memory. “Enough with the negative waves!” Lol!!!

I think this might have been the problem. Says in the manual Do Not Store Fob By A Smart Phone!
🤷🏻‍♂️ go figure. Behind where I always put my ifone is where I stored this fob.
Maybe it’s synched to my iPhone now and I can use it to turn the fone on & off. 😂

This is just a sample of the gahzillion acorns raining down today and yes they hurt especially when ya get hit by several at once.

I am trying to find a bunch of those things for the kidos in the classroom I want to drill holes and make them into beads but I am not sure if the nut inside would get in the way.

Sports Car Club of America ran a rally there in the 1980s named “The Rally From Hell!” If I remember we started 84 cars and 30 some managed to finish the course.

HA HA no I am from The PNW and we don't have many oak trees around. At least the part I am in, I will start looking for them though. These look like perfect amo for sling shots. The D@#$ deer are eating my apples again. I don't want to shoot them but I do want them to leave my apples alone. Maybe one of these hitting them in the butt will help them on their way.

FINALLY! Kampfire Weather!
Made it thru September, 3 weex of which was July with 80ish daytime temps and 60s at night.

Now that it’s Oct, I’m starting to think about heading south in about 5 weex or so depending on when & where is it snowing and when & where is it still hurricaning…….

I’ve committed to about 15 days of house sitting cat detail as my dawters mom visits dawter in NC and friends in Fla.

Tentatively leaving Kamp Koon in about 5ish weex.

And while Florida braces for Cat 5 Hurricane Milton forecasted to land near Tampa……

Kamp Koon was treated to one of the most beautifully surreal ghostly events on Earth:

Last night’s Northern Lights were the most spectacular I’ve seen, maybe, ever!

A new first freeze record date will be set this year at Kamp Koon.

As posted elsewhere on this site (maybe this thread?) over the last 35 years of living in this area there has been a continual later & later first frost. My first year here it occurred on 15 Sept and last year it was 11 Oct.

This year? No frost yet and these last 2 nights were the best chance for one as temps dipped into the mid & upper 30’s but no frost on the pumpkin yet.

Night lows for the next 10 days are forecast to be in the low to upper 40’s so will be near to Halloween before any sign of a freeze - maybe November? That’s an over 45 day span over 35ish years of continually later & later first frost.

Global Warming? I don’t know about the rest of the planet but the data is irrefutable for the Kamp Koon area……..
