01.jpg10.jpg14.jpg39.jpgWe are at Lake Isabella in the Kern valley below the Sequoia national forest.

We went into the national forest camping areas here which are free and went looking for the best possible camp site, since we will be here a month, and ended up way up on a mountain on extremely rough roads with ruts, ditches, gullies, and hazardous raised areas, and much to my shock the Eclipse handled it like a champ even when we kept banging down the frame of the car on some raised areas!

We got stuck near dark, near the top and said screw it.... we had all our stuff so we broke camp right there on top of the mountain... stayed the night and went back the way we came since we knew what was that way and the road going on was just getting rougher.... amazingly we've checked the car and it's in fine shape... We would have gotten pissed when we were up there, but have come to realize when you focus on what's in front of you, instead of the big picture, you enjoy it more and it becomes an adventure. If you focus on trying to get somewhere... then it's work and no fun at all.

While you're in the area you should check out the Keysville Recreation Area. I spent the last night of a road trip there a year and a half ago. If I'd had more time I'd have liked to explore a little bit more.

Yep!  We have been camping there all week, in fact this mountain trip happened in that park as the roads lead all the way back to it. Nice little park so far... lots of cows, has pit toilets and garbage bins.
