Just saying hi and a little intro. First, it was just fun watching van life and tiny house videos. Then, I went from vicariously enjoying the rv lifestyle to "I really want to do this!" Now, the plan is, still with a home base in WA state and a spouse who is supportive but who doesn't feel the need to do this, to set up the lifestyle. Right now, still working p/t as a counselor and exploring a company that offers online counseling. Right now my vehicle is a Rav4 but I'm thoroughly enjoying setting up. Planning to start small trips south and in the new year visit my sister in Palm Springs and then on to Arizona for my first boondock! Thanks so much for all the support CRVL and community!

Hi Heatherfeather, welcome to the forums! I live east of you in North Idaho . . . and also have a sister to visit in Southern California. The online counseling idea does sound promising.

Welcome HeatherFeather!!

I worked in helping professions for a good while in my previous life, haha. The opportunity to do so remotely would seem to work just right, no?
AZ is great in the winter time!

Regards,
Marcus

Hi! Sounds like you are in fine shape and ready to hit the road and enjoy yourself. safe travels!

I love my RAV4. I fold the seats down into the cargo floor, set up a cot (with storage beneath) behind the passenger seat as the "bedroom," a clothes bar as the "closet," milk crates stacked facing the rear hatch door for a pantry, a cooler, a butane stove, and a board that pulls out for a counter top/table for the "galley," plus a camping potty, curtains, window screens, and I can go anywhere for less money than the bigger rigs. I wish it were a hybrid, but that's not in the budget.

Gas mileage is so important and you are comfortable. Great combination.
