Went with a 2002 Ford E250 to stay on the cheap side. I've put about 4k in so far just to get the van and have it registered and I'm hoping to stay under 7k total. Needs to be capable of surviving long winter nights at a cozy temperature even when I'm not there. Starting with an interior touch up on some rust spots, I will follow with electrical wiring and go right to framing and insulating. I'll make sure to put an air vent on the roof for my propane heater system. I don't plan on a bathroom yet but I hope to make it so that it will be easy to work on in the future. Very excited to see this project through!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D :D  :D :D
Mine is a 2005 ford E-350, extended. My best friend took one look at it and yclept it the 'Road Pig', because it is a bit lifted, too. After a test drive, I had to agree

Glad to hear it!

I'm a newbie. A wannabe, in fact. So I've got no advice for you. Though your rig sounds like just the thing.

This forum seems to be quite welcoming. You ought to do just fine.

Congratulations on the E250. I've always loved Fords and recently bought a 2003 myself. Best of luck fixing it up just the way you like it!

Congratulations, I also want a car. It seems that I have to continue to work hard to save money.

Hi I am a brand new newbie, and I sure could use some help on how to start. I have so many questions. I thought I would say hi considering you said you were a newbie too. $$$ is always the issue isnt it? I own a decent car (2011 Nissan Altima) and was thinking of selling it to get a van. Then someone suggested maybe look for a small RV suitable for my car. I really dont know of such things, I have a lot to learn. Happy to make your acquaintance. Much luck on your journey.

Just FYI:

If that Altima has the CVT, it probably wont be good for towing any but the smallest trailers, maybe a lightweight teardrop trailer.
